Great Voltigeur Guide

1. Constantinople

Trainer - Aidan O'Brien

Jockey - Ryan Moore

The Ballydoyle maestro is looking to dominate the field with two of the five runners in the race and Constantinople looks to be his strongest chance from what he has done this season.

He has raced four times this season being pipped three times into second and has won of his events in good style but this contest looks to be his big chance of the year.

He finished a narrow second to Nayef Road last time out at Goodwood but now has a 3lb pull over that horse and if being good enough to see off John Gosden's bright recruit he is a huge player.

2. Jalmoud

Trainer - Charlie Appleby

Jockey - William Buick

A very frustrating type that would need to record a career best to go well in this field having ran against a fair few of these horses recently and been outclassed.

Two starts ago he did find some form when finishing a strong third in the Group One Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp but his run in the Gordon stakes at Goodwood was very below par and he needs a revival from that performance.

3. Logician

Trainer - John Gosden

Jockey - Frankie Dettori

One of the most progressive horses in training at the moment with John Gosden's Logician looking like a potential Group One winning horse.

The three year old colt has had three starts to date and is unbeaten in all of them, only featuring in Class 4 and 3 races but still showing heaps of ability to warrant plenty of respect in this contest.

The St Leger is a huge target for him and this contest will put him in good stead to see how close he is to being able to mix it with the big boys.

4. Nayef Road

Trainer - Mark Johnston

Jockey - Silvestre De Sousa

Nayef Road has been a really tough horse all season placing in some really nice events but finally got off the mark in a big race last time out at Goodwood.

The three year old saw off a strong challenge from Aidan O'Brien's Constantinople in the closing stages but saw out the race nicely to land the Group Three Gordon Stakes.

He should be in the mix again but this a lot tougher and will need to improve again.

5. Norway

Trainer - Aidan O'Brien

Jockey - Donnacha O'Brien

The final runner of the afternoon is the outsider of the field but it would not be a surprise to see him go well and cause a surprise with Norway running well on good ground which is currently the going.

On good ground he has never finished outside of the top four places with his latest run in the Irish Derby on that ground seeing him finish a strong third behind his stablemates.

He has put some lesser performances in when the rain has fell but he looks clear to have a strong run and can not be discounted
