Cheltenham Market Movers From A Busy Christmas Period

Gold Cup Market Movers and Drifters

The Gold Cup is obviously the pinnacle race at the festival and over the Christmas period there were horses that put in very underwhelming performances which saw there price drift.

However, there were also some superb performances which saw plenty of horses move to the top of the market and in this mini blog we are highlighting the big movers.

Clan Des Obeaux - 16/1 into 7/1 - Landed the King George for the second year running out jumping and outstaying some of the best three miles horses in the sport.

Can he stay up the hill this year that is the only question?

Al Boum Photo - 7/1 into 4/1 - Last year's winner of the Grade One went to Tramore as he did last season and hacked up, seeing a decent small field of runners.

Looks as good as ever and will certainly be in the mix.

Lostintranslation - 4/1 out to 8/1 Lostintranslation had been perfect in both his runs before the King George but after being pulled up and looking a shadow of himself over the jumps has drifted to double his original price.

Delta Work - 16/1 into 8/1 - The Gigginstown runner was superb in the Savills Chase over at Leopardstown over Christmas getting up late in the day to land the Grade One and see his odds halved for the Gold Cup.

Champion Hurdle Market Movers and Drifters

The Champion Hurdle is one of the most eagerly anticipated races at the festival and over the Christmas period there were horses that put in very lacklustre performances which saw there price drift.

However, there were also some superb performances which saw plenty of horses move to the top of the market and in this mini blog we are highlighting the big movers.

Epatante - 20/1 into 3/1 - This smart mare has emerged as the new Champion Hurdle favourite after smashing her rivals in the Grade One Christmas Hurdle at Kempton.

Klassical Dream - 4/1 out to 10/1 - Klassical Dream has not looked the same horse as last year running twice in Grade One company and flopping both times, last time out giving his worst performance to date.

Fussil Raffles - 8/1 out to 20/1 - This star of last season is another novice who has not looked the same horse this term winning his debut in a weak contest and then being pulled up in the Christmas Hurdle with him never travelling well.

Sharjah - 25/1 into 8/1 - Sharjah flopped on his debut behind stablemates Klassical Dream and Saldier but picked himself back up to win the Grade One Matheson Hurdle for the second time and come back into contention in the Champion Hurdle betting.

Arkle Chase Market Movers and Drifters

Notebook - 16/1 into 4/1 - This Henry De Bromhead trained horse has been the surprise package of the contest winning all three of his races to date and last time out saw off the other two in the top of the market with ease in a Grade One at Leopardstown.

Laurina - 5/1 out to 25/1 - Laurina has been a nightmare horse for punters that have followed her career looking like the next big thing when winning at Cheltenham as a novice and also landing a Grade One in the same season but after that she has flopped in the Champion Hurdle and last time out on her second run over fences being pulled up in the Grade One Novice Chase at Leopardstown.

Other Races That Has Seen Movers and Drifters Recently

Triumph Hurdle

Allmankind - 20/1 into 7/1 - This three year old for the Skelton camp took his record to three from three when landing the first Grade One of his career at Chepstow on Welsh Grand National day and just looks a pure freak of a horse with the way he showed a powerful turn of foot.

Ballymore Novices Hurdle

Envoi Allen - 9/4 into 11/8 - One of the big bankers of the Cheltenham festival for many favourite backers with this horse extending his unbeaten record to eight wins and proving his worth over two and a half miles for the first time.

Pertemps Network Final Hurdle

The Storyteller - 16/1 into 8/1 - A horse that has gone under the radar is this Gordon Elliott trained runner who is being aimed at this contest having qualified after finishing 6th at Leopardstown in a qualifying race.

He is proven at Cheltenham winning the Brown Advisory Handicap back in 2018 and should be really nice in the weights for this contest.

Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle

Thyme Hill - 8/1 into 5/1 - Finally Thyme Hill has just gone from strength to strength this season landing back to back Grade twos at Chepstow and Cheltenham and then last time securing his first Grade One in the Challow Hurdle at Newbury.

He has been faultless this term and his trainer is looking to take him up to this three mile trip.
