The first event from Newmarket on ITV's Saturday show is the Listed Empress Fillies' Stakes over 6f and Star Of Mystery for Charlie Appleby could be very tough to beat off the back of her form this term.

Making his debut on good ground at Doncaster when bumping into the likeable Carla's Way for Simon & Ed Crisford, he then went to Haydock in the middle of June and got off the mark in impressive style when bolting up by 11 lengths.

There is more progression to come from this filly and with the trainer winning this race back in 2019, Star Of Mystery looks to have more potential than that horse.

Could be tough to beat.

Trainer To Follow - Charlie Appleby - Newmarket

Charlie Appleby could be set for a good day at Newmarket on the July Course on Saturday across the ITV races with two strong favourites that look tough to beat.

The first is Star Of Mystery in the Listed Empress Fillies' Stakes with the two year old bolting up by 11 lengths last time out and she should keep improving.

Another strong chance on the afternoon comes in the Listed Fred Archer Stakes with St Leger second New London dropping back in class having his first run of the season and should be better than these.

Appleby did not have the Royal Ascot he would asked for but is still running at a 22% strike rate ahead of this meeting at the weekend.

Jockey To Follow - Oisin Murphy - Newcastle

Three time champion jockey Oisin Murphy was another figure who did not have the most fruitful time of things at Royal Ascot but still managed to come away with a Group One win in the Commonwealth Cup aboard Shaquille.

On Saturday at Newcastle in the four races shown live on ITV he has some smart chances starting in the opener on Batal Dubai for trainers Harry & Roger Charlton.

He then rides the favourite Brad The Brief in the Group Three Chipchase Stakes for Hugo Palmer with the sprinter having strong form in better races last term.

In the Northumberland Vase, Murphy teams up with the inform Charlie Johnston team on Hadrianus who before Royal Ascot had been running to a credible level and can bounce back here.

His final ride on ITV comes in the Northumberland plate on Golden Rules who was a nice horse for John & Thady Gosden but now with his new trainer being stepped up to 2m, looks to be at his ideal trip.
