ITV Racing Tips for Today - Sunday 31st May

ITV Racing are live from both Thirsk and Nottingham for their Sunday Series with a bumper ten live races on Sunday afternoon. With a competitive range of handicap contests from both courses, we've gone through all the live races to pick out our selections and tips for the afternoon's racing.

Leave The Bag In 12/1

Ran very green on racecourse debut at York two weeks ago but seemed to get the hang of things late on to make some late gains. That’s valuable experience in the books and with a speedy pedigree he can shape better now he’s had a run.

Time To Take Off 2/1

Scored over C+D on her debut back in October and ran well under a penalty to be 2nd on both of her subsequent outings, the latest at Doncaster last month. Makes the switch to handicaps now looking nicely enough treated off a mark of 84 and with how well she travelled last time out before getting tired she can prove herself better than this mark.

Kinnalargy 12/1

Got off the mark at Redcar last season and shaped nicely on handicap debut over 6 furlongs last season, seemingly not quite getting home. Blew the cobwebs away with a low-key effort in a deeper race at York last time out and now looks nicely treated off a mark of 83 down in trip and class.

Tupero 6/4

Scored over this distance at Redcar with a good bit in hand three weeks ago and wasn’t too harshly hit in the weights with a 4lbs rise in the weights. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th have all made the frame since that and he’s still relatively unexposed at this distance, can make it a quick double.

I’m Next 20/1

Has a good record at this kind of level and scored well at Beverley in a race that’s since worked out well. Placed off a revised mark before struggling a very deep sprint at York when last seen. However that has seen him shuffled 2lbs down in the weights and back to a more realistic level for his ability.

Shady Bay 4/1

Returned from a break with a good victory over C+D in a lower grade when last seen, pulling nicely clear of the 2nd. A 5lbs raise doesn’t look unreasonable and with that run in the books there could be a little bit more to come.

Great Bedwyn 5/1

Has an ideal set up of a big field over 12 furlongs on decent ground and went close in a better race than this at York recently. Has been raised 3lbs for his narrow defeat but still looks well enough treated and can put in another good effort under Sean Levey.

Manilla Scouse 14/1

Has fallen to a really attractive looking handicap mark of 78 and hinted at a return to form with an encouraging 3rd over a shorter trip at Hamilton last time out. Steps up in trip and has a win and a place from three visits to this venue. Looks primed for a big effort.

Mountain Road 12/1

Lines up here 4lbs lower than his last winning mark and has started to come to hand after having a long lay off from the track. Steps up to a more suitable looking trip now and Jim Goldie yard are operating at an impressive 20% strike rate. Handicapped to play a hand if retaining his ability.

Renewal 8/1

Solid form last season to be in the frame in all her starts and she signed off with an encouraging 2nd over a longer trip on her handicap debut. Looked like she’d benefit from a drop back in trip and looks very nicely treated off a mark of 80 for the Ralph Beckett yard. Can progress in this sphere if fully fit for her first outing of the campaign.
