JLT Novices Chase Guide

3. Defi Du Seuil

Trainer - Phillip Hobbs

Jockey - Barry Geraghty

This smart six year old has this season started to show the potential of his juvenile season where he won numerous Grade 1s and went on to land the Triumph Hurdle two seasons ago.

This season he has won two out of his four runs and just being pipped at Cheltenham in second on another start but his latest Grade 1 win at Sandown really sets the standard in this race.

8. Lostintranslation

Trainer - Colin Tizzard

Jockey - Richard Johnson

The current second favourite is Lostintranslation really does have a great chance for Colin Tizzard and is seen as one of his best chances of the week.

He beat Defi Du Seuil two starts ago at Cheltenham in the Grade 2 Big Dipper, stying on stronger up the hill than the JP McManus owned horse and that course form looks really strong.

However, last time out the form was reversed in the Grade 1 at Sandown against some better horses and he will have to step up at a track he is proven on.

11. Real Steel

Trainer - Willie Mullins

Jockey -

This Willie Mullins trained six year old looks to have a great each way shout if running to the same standard he has on his past few starts.

He is going in search of a hat-trick on Thursday after landing a beginners chase two starts ago at Fairyhouse and then backing that up in good style at Thurles last time out.

If this Irish form stands firm he has a real chance but is facing his toughest test to date.

7. Kildisart

Trainer - Ben Pauling

Jockey - Daryl Jacob

This is trainer Ben Pauling's best chance of the week and has a great chance at a fairly big price compared to the favourites and heads into this contest with course and distance form after winning at Cheltenham in a Class 2 last time out.

Before that he won at Ascot in a decent Class 2 clash and on his seasonal return finished second behind a smart front runner. Each way claims are definitely not out of the question.

15. Vinndication

Trainer - Kim Bailey

Jockey - David Bass

This horse was not running at the Cheltenham Festival this time last week but a last minute decision from his trainer Kim Bailey now see's him back in the frame.

He was six out of six before his latest run in a Grade 1 at Sandown where he finished third behind the two favourites today and will need to reverse that form to be in the mix.

9. Mengli Khan

Trainer - Gordon Elliott

Jockey -

This six year old has decent Cheltenham form when finishing a good third in the Supreme Novices Hurdle last season but now chasing this year will have to be better.

He won on his first start over fences but has since been found out in better races and it would be a shock to see him feature in this contest.

17. Voix Du Reve

Trainer - Willie Mullins

Jockey -

Another consistent performer for Willie Mullins who will need a huge step up to feature against the likes of some of these horses but if there is a trainer who can get his horses fitter than ever it is the Irishman.

Voix Du Reve has won two nice chase races at the start of the season in Ireland and finished a good third behind Le Richebourg who was the Arkle favourite. each way angle.

19. Pravalaguna

Trainer - Willie Mullins

Jockey-

Starting to feel like a broken Record with the third horse supplemented for this contest from trainer Willie Mullins but this progressive mare has won her last two in good style and is seeking a hat-trick.

It would be a shock to see her land that third win on the bounce but getting the mares allowance and being a constant improver all season, she is worth a second look.

18. Castsfiore

Trainer - Charlie Longsdon

Jockey - Paul O'Brien

The final horse of the race comes from the Charlie Longsdon yard and although his form line reads nice he is the outsider of the field for a reason.

He landed a Grade 2, two starts ago and then ran a nice race last time out in another Grade 2 in a small runner field, but will have to come on a lot to be involved here.
