The Welsh Grand National is one of the headline races across the weekend and throughout the week we have been looking back at some of the best renewals and today it is the turn of the 2018 resumption.
If punting on a race like this you almost always need to select a horse that is an out and out stayer, that even when coming off the bridle finds more for pressure.
Elegant Escape for Colin Tizzard is a horse that does just that, showing not just in this event but races like the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Charlie Hall Chase and Ladbrokes Trophy Chase where running fine races.
However, the last time he was seen winning came in the 2018 Welsh National seeing off strong challenges from Ramses De Teillee and Yala Enki.
The nine year old has never been tried at the Aintree Grand National and having shown in the past his staying ability this may happen sooner rather than later.
