ITV Racing Tips for Today - Saturday 30th August

Saturday's racing comes from Sandown, Chester and Beverley on the 30th of August, featuring some strong Group and listed action across the three cards. Sandown see the Solario Stakes and over at Beverley they host their feature sprint, The Beverley Bullet. We've gone through all the live ITV Races and pick out our tips and selections for the afternoon.

Crown Of Oaks

William Haggas looks to have unleashed another smart handicapping prospect in the shape of Crown Of Oaks.

Showing decent enough form in maiden events of a mile, he gained his handicap mark of 79 and moved up to 10f and won well at Ayr, staying on well and worth more than his 0.75L distance win.

Shuffled up 6lbs in the weights for the win, he still looks incredibly well treated off 85 and can continue to rise the handicap ranks from here.

God Of War 12/1

Shaped well over 7 furlongs at Chester when only denied by a neck off this mark back in May and has since been aimed at handicaps over a mile.

Some muddling runs have seen him eased back 1lbs in the weights and connections lower their sights now to an easier looking assignment here.

A stiff 7 furlongs looks like it’ll be his ideal and a mark of 93 is negotiable. Yard in are decent form.

Regional 13/8

Sets the standard for this off the back of strong efforts in Group Sprints this season and despite not winning for a while, it looks like his time is coming round to get his head in front again.

Second in consecutive renewals of the Kings’ Stand at Royal Ascot, he clearly is at his best over the minimum trip and a stiff finish like here at Beverley will play to his strengths.

Rated 5lbs clear of the field, he should so these a clean pair of heels.

Bright Thunder 12/1

Has run well this season, improving from her seasonal comeback to be 3rd by a neck in a listed race at Goodwood before coming 2nd to Spiritual at Epsom.

Had a successful raid over in France scooping a listed prize over at Deauville, then last time out shaped as if 7 furlongs was too sharp.

Back up in trip to a mile, she’s good enough for this level against her own sex. Can outrun her big odds.

Alsakib 11/4

Lowered the colours of Al Qareem at York last season and hasn’t been at his best this campaign but a revival could be on the cards off the back of a short break.

Given time to freshen up after a poor showing back at York in June, his penultimate effort hinted he still retains ability as a 5 year old when only being beaten a length and a half behind Rebel’s Romance.

Has won here before on the Roodee and can get back to his best over his optimum distance.

Dangerman 4/1

The application of blinkers has improved this Godolphin colt massively and he’s developed a liking of Goodwood in his last two outings.

Beating a nice type in Bulletin over course and distance in July, he backed that up easily off a revised mark last time out back over the 10f at Sandown.

Steps up in grade now and has been shifted up to a mark of 89 but there’s likely a bit more to come. Can prove better than a mark of 89.

Hawksbill 11/2

Seems to go well at these tight turning courses like Chester and Goodwood and was unlucky last time out not to win, just finding Sir Paul Ramsey a stronger stayer at the trip.

The form of that run looks decent with that rival coming 3rd in a strong race at York last week at the Ebor meeting and a slight drop in trip looks the correct move for Hawsbill.

Can get right in the mix for Hugo Palmer and Jason Hart.

Publish 1/1

It’s hard to get away from Publish at the head of the market. He should have won here on debut but failed to get a clean shot and had to settle for 2nd.

Sent back here for a maiden last month, he stayed on relentlessly from the front to grind out quite an impressive win.

Upped in grade now, the form of his two efforts to date looks strong and he should be hard to beat now tackling a higher grade. The Balding stable look to continue their flying form.
