ITV Racing are live from three courses today with some quality group, listed and handicap action across the cards. Haydock host their Group One Sprint Cup card, while Ascot see a strong listed race supported by competitive handicaps. Kalpana gets ready for the Arc with an outing in the September Stakes over at Kempton.
We've gone through all the live races and picked out our tips and selections for the afternoon.
Prague 5/1
Was a good 2nd in this contest last year behind Holloway Boy before following up with a Group Two win at Newmarket on soft ground.
He’s not been in bad form this season, finishing mid field in Group and Listed contests but seems to come to his best at this time of year.
Kieran Shoemark is an interesting booking in the saddle and he’s versatile for going conditions. Can get right in the mix in this race again.
Kalpana 8/15
This looks like a stepping stone to Paris for Kalpana as the Andrew Balding has her eyes on the Arc next month.
She follows the footsteps of Enable going from the September Stakes to Longchamp and won this race in a bit of a gamble last year, being well backed late before winning with a good bit in hand.
WIll be hard to beat again back here before heading over the Channel for the French showpiece.
Bow Echo 15/8
Created an immediate impression when bolting up on racecourse debut for George Boughey and Billy Loughnane at Newbury over a mile.
The form has been boosted by the second winning well since and he’ll take a definite leap forward for having some experience.
Might just have more progression left in the tank than Publish.
Superposition 11/1
Goes well here and dotted up in a handicap over course and distance in May in fantastic style.
Was only narrowly defeated by Goodwinson back on the All-weather at Newcastle in June and looks a good deal better on a synthetic surface rather than on turf.
Some muddling efforts on turf since have seen him drop to a mark of 92 that looks more than workable. Can take a step forward again returned to polytrack.
Valiancy 7/2
Ran well over course and distance back in July and shaped well last time out to be 2nd, looking like a stiffer test of stamina is needed.
Stepping back up to 14 furlongs looks the right move and some rain in the ground might just help him not get outpaced at a crucial time as he looks to lack a tactical gear change.
Looks well treated and will enjoy this step back up in trip and return to Haydock.
Mister Bluebird 22/1
With the rain falling it’ll pay to look for those who’s best form comes on soft ground and with Mister Bluebird doing his best work on rain softened ground, his price of 25/1 looks huge for this.
In really good form this season, winning at Goodwood on soft ground over 6 furlongs in July followed up with another win over 7 furlongs on slow ground again at Yarmouth.
Only narrowly beaten into 2nd and 3rd on his last few outings, a mark of 85 clearly still has some wriggle room for him and with conditions in his favour he can run a big race.
Dancing In Paris 11/1
Has been in good form this season in big staying handicaps and away from rattling fast ground he looks at his best.
A close 2nd in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle, were followed by efforts in the frame at both Glorious Goodwood and the Ebor meeting.
Still looks ok treated off a mark of 94 and should be able to get involved again under Saffie Osborne.
Tenability 9/2
Rapidly improving for William Haggas, Tenability took his record to three from five with a good performance in the Shergar Cup to get up late.
Wasn’t ridden by his usual pilot Cieren Fallon that day, he was full of running and lucky to get a late gap just to win by a neck.
Probably lightly treated with a 4lbs hike in the weights and a faster pace and his usual jockey back in the plate he should fare better. Going for a third straight course and distance win.
Kind Of Blue 8/1
Got motoring as a sprinter towards the end of last season, coming 2nd in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh before being narrowly denied in this race last year.
Rounded out his campaign with a brilliant display to land the Champion Sprint Stakes on Champions’ Day.
Has been slow to come back to form this season but connections will be delighted with the rain that’s come and he shaped with loads of promise to be 3rd at the Curragh again last time out. Can follow the same path as last year and go well in the Sprint Cup again.
