ITV Racing Tips for Today - Saturday 23rd August

ITV Racing are live from both York and Goodwood on Saturday 23rd August. Covering the final day of the Ebor festival, featuring the newly promoted group one City Of York Stakes and the feature handicap of the week, The Ebor. Handicap action over at Goodwood sees seven live races. Find our tips for all the races below.

King of Cities 11/1

Disappointed at Glorious Goodwood when well backed for the thoroughbred Stakes, going of favourite but outpaced in what became a tactical affair and only beating one of his three rivals home.

However, he looked smart in listed races earlier in the season and placed over 9 furlongs in a strong contest at Newmarket earlier in the season.

Should find this track and trip ideal and can leave behind his poor Goodwood run now.

Mudbir 5/1

Has been progressing nicely for connections winning 3 of his 5 career outings to date and scoring the last twice since being switched to handicaps.

Just found enough over course and distance when last seen, holding off Dance In The Storm who ran well at York on Thursday to be 3rd in a deep handicap.

A mark of 95 still looks lenient and with his weight for age allowance he carries a nice low racing weight. Can get right in the mix again.

Novelista 18/1

Looks a big price for this considering he has a nice low handicap mark of 83 and has gone close twice over this trip this season. Just being beaten into 2nd by Many Men and Pole Star who both re-oppose here.

Is on better terms with both of those rivals now and wasn’t disgraced over 12 furlongs when last seen at Glorious Goodwood. Just not quite having the pace to cling onto a higher placing.

Back up in trip and still looking well handicapped, he can go well for Charlie Johnston and Joe Fanning at a big price.

Prince Of The Seas 6/5

Looks to have taken a step forward for having a gelding operation and ran well to be a close 3rd at Ascot last time out in what looked a strong contest.

Only upped 1lbs in the weights for that effort, connections opt for a 5lbs claimer in the saddle now leaving him looking well weighted to go close again.

Has been strong in the market early and should be hard to beat if running to the same level again.

Rosallion 6/4

Its’s hard not to like the chances of Rosallion after he missed his intended target in France last week but takes his chance here now down in trip.

Sets a clear standard at the top of the market and despite not winning this season, he’s gone close in all of his runs. Losing the last twice by a nose and a neck.

Is the one to beat if handling this drop back to 7 furlongs.

Ethical Diamond 6/1

Willie Mullins looks to hold the aces in the deck for the Ebor and Royal Ascot winner Ethical Diamond looks progressive on the flat and can defy a mark of 104.

Coming 4th in the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, he took a big step forward when switched codes at Royal Ascot, running out a ready winner of the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes.

This step up in trip looks like it’ll suit and Will Buick is an eye-catching jockey booking in the saddle.

Run Boy Run 14/1

There’s still some wiggle room in Run Boy Run’s handicap mark and he shaped nicely in the Steward’s Cup to be 4th behind his stable mate Two Tribes.

Has been in solid form all season in these kind of sprint handicaps and a mark of 95 still looks more than negotiable for him.

Drawn nicely and centrally in a track that’s seemed to favour those down the middle all week. Can get in the placings again.
