Who To Follow On Day Five Of Glorious Goodwood

Horse To Follow - Golden Flame

One of our best bets on the final day comes in the penultimate race of the festival in the seven furlong Maiden Stakes and Golden Flame for Mark Johnston has a lovely pedigree.

The son of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Golden Horn was second on debut at Haydock behind a horse that went to finish second twice in Group Two company.

In only his second run at a racecourse he went on to finish fourth of eight in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and that form seems to be working out with the winner since landing a Group Two.

The standout horse in this field.

Trainer To Follow - Ed De Giles

Ed De Giles is a trainer not in the spotlight of English flat racing but is one to take notice of on Saturday with his first runners at the whole meeting, in the first race on Saturday.

The handler has a superb record at the track this season, having two runners and one winner seeing him run at a 50% strike rate at Goodwood.

In the Stewards' Cup Consolation race he fields Treacherous, who overall is a consistent sort who has won four of his last eight runs including victory over this C&D in June.

The son of Paco Boy won last time at Haydock when returning to turf and is more than capable of making it back to back victories here.

Jockey To Follow - Ryan Moore

Currently the leading jockey at the meeting he will be hoping for a huge final day to secure the jockeys title for the festival and on the Saturday he has some big chances.

In the feature race of the day, the Stewards' Cup, he sits on the likeable Watan for Richard Hannon who broke his maiden tag at the first time of asking at Glorious Goodwood two seasons ago over six furlongs.

Since then he has been hit and miss but seems to do his best work over this trip with two wins and a place from his three runs over the distance.

He was second behind race favourite Nahaarr last time out when giving him 9lbs but now only gives him just one pound and it would be no surprise to see him finish ahead of him here.

Golden Flame is another big chance for the well known rider and these two runners are part of many strong chances for Moore on the final day.
