ITV Racing Tips for Today - Saturday 2nd July

It's Coral-Eclipse day from Sandown and ITV Racing are live from both the Esher track and the Newmarket July course for seven top quality races on Saturday Afternoon. A strong mix of group races and handicaps, culminating with the feature of the Coral-Eclipse, we've gone through all the live televised races to pick out our selections for the afternoon.

Rumstar 11/4

Won this race last year and is at his most effective on fast ground over 5 furlongs with a stiff finish. Gets an ideal set up again and will appreciate this drop back in grade.

Arc Ole Ole 15/8

Progressive handicapper and didn’t look out of place in a higher grade over 12 furlongs last time out. Looks like he’ll improve for this step up in trip and isn’t badly treated off a mark of 89 if this distance draws out some more improvement.

Ebt’s Guard 12/1

A consistent sort in these big handicaps and put in another good effort at Royal Ascot to be 4th in the Royal Hunt Cup. Retains the same handicap mark for this and the stiff finish will play to his strength in stamina.

Tiffany 11/10

It’s a weak renewal of the Lancashire Oaks and although she doesn’t win often Tiffany brings some of the best form to the race this year. Runner up in all of her last 4 outings, she’s been finding one too good but is the standard setter in this field. If running to her usual level she’ll get her head back in front.

Sacred Ground 10/3

Hasn’t quite been getting home over 10 furlongs this season but has shaped well in listed races. Sill appreciate this drop in distance and the booking of Ryan Moore in the saddle catches the eye. Can improve for returning to her last winning trip.

Paddy The Squire 15/2

Progressive last term winning a brace of handicaps over this trip. Needed his seasonal return but shaped better at Royal Ascot to be 3rd in a valuable handicap. A mark of 101 doesn’t leave him too badly treated and this drop back in trip will see him to better effect.

Constitution River 10/11

French Derby hero or Aidan O’Brien winning 4 of his 5 career outings. Holds Hawk Mountain on that form and his handy 3 year old allowance sees him get a good chunk of weight from main rival Gethin. Can keep his winning form going.
