The penultimate event of the day up north is the All Weather Marathon Championships over two miles and Nigel Twiston-Davies' Earlofthecotswolds looks an attractive bet.

This eight year old is a very smart dual purpose horse, winning well over hurdles at the back end of last year, taking a nice handicap event at Wetherby and then backing that up in an even better event at Newbury, beating Listed Silver Cup winner Annsam and Betfair Hurdle winner Glory And Fortune.

Sent back on the flat of late, he has been in fine form in his last two runs, winning at Kempton over 1m4f and then backed that up at then same track over two miles in this races' qualifier.

Set to run at the Cheltenham festival in the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle, he was instead saved for this and is looking to bring up the hat-trick.

Big player.

Trainer To Follow - William Haggas

William Haggas heads into the All Weather Championship meeting in fine form and sends a decent team to Newcastle which makes him a trainer to get behind.

In the Mile Conditions Stakes he has one of his best chances of the day with My Oberon who has been a horse in Group One races throughout his career and this is considerably easier.

Tiber Flow in the Three Year Old event has a big chance for the handler looking to make it 4/4 being a well bred son of Caravaggio.

Arousing in the Fillies' And Mares' race could outrun her odds if coming back to form off the back of her poor run last time out.

Haggas heads into the meeting sporting a strike rate of 25% for the last two weeks having managed to land three winners from his last 12 runners.

Jockey To Follow - David Egan

David Egan has a nice book of rides at Newcastle on Friday starting in the second race of the day where La Tihaty for Roger Varian is looking to get back to winning ways.

In the Sprint Championships event he sits on the favourite Eltilaab who is a course and distance winner that heads into the event off the back of a nice win.

Egan heads into the meeting sporting a strike rate of 26% for the last two weeks managing to land seven winners from his last 27 rides.
