ITV Racing Tips for Today - Saturday 2nd May

It's the first classic of the season with the 2000 Guineas coming live from Newmarket on ITV Racing, with supporting action from Goodwood and Thirsk, we've taken a look at all seven live televised races to pick out our tips and selections for the afternoon.

Fitzella 9/4

A solid juvenile campaign last year saw her win a Group Three over 6 furlongs at Ascot and run creditably in higher grades until the end of the season. Looked like she needed her return effort at Newbury, fading late on but will come on for that run. Drops back down to a more suitable looking trip here and will be hard to peg back from the front under her usual positive tactics.

Addison Grey 13/2

A progressive type for Clive Cox who made a very encouraging return for the season at Newbury to be narrowly beaten into 2nd in a strong looking handicap. Lines up here officially 2lbs well in and will come on for that recent return effort. Unexposed in the handicap sphere and can rate better than his current mark of 92.

Blue Bolt 5/4

Drops back to listed company having won at this level at Sandown last season. Wasn’t disgraced in higher grades in her subsequent runs, finishing 2nd twice in Group Three and Group One contests. Drops to an easier looking assignment for seasonal return and on rattling fast ground can outclass her rivals.

Erzindjan 12/1

Did well to be 4th in the Cambridgeshire Handicap over C+D at the end of last season, being the top finisher of the high drawn horses. Lines up only 1lbs higher in the weights than for that effort and has gone well fresh before. Much better drawn for this in stall 8.

Mirsky 8/1

Hit top form in May of last year, winning over C+D here at Thirsk and at Epsom off a higher mark. Was in the grip of the handicapper off the back of those wins but returns to Thirsk only 3lbs higher in the weights than for his last win. Hinted at a return to form on seasonal comeback over a longer trip last month, will be match fit for that effort and looks well enough handicapped to play a hand.

Rumstar 13/2

Won this race last season in good style and relishes these type of sprinting contests with stiff finishes. Handles rattling fast ground and has won first time out in the past. Will be primed for a big run to defend his crown in this race.

Bow Echo 9/2

Took his record to an impressive 3-3 when winning a Group Two over C+D at the end of last season, travelling well and powering home up the stiff Newmarket finish. Proved he handles the course, stays the trip and is still unbeaten.
