Who To Follow At Haydock On Saturday - 04/09/21

Horse To Follow - Starman

The feature race of the afternoon sees the Group One Sprint Cup and the horse we are siding with is the favourite Starman for Ed Walker.

The four year old this season has been the shining light for the yard, making a superb seasonal reappearance at York when taking the Group Two Duke Of York Stakes and off the back of that landed the yards first win in a Group One when taking out the July Cup at Newmarket.

Looking for more black type glory he was last seen finishing a good third in the Group One Prix Maurice de Gheest behind two french stars, with the soft ground that day hindering his finish.

With his main rival Dragon Symbol not being declared for the Sprint Cup on Saturday he has been backed into as short as 6/5 to land the event and with the forecast looking to keep the ground quick, he is the standout pick for the race.

Trainer To Follow - Charlie Appleby

Charlie Appleby sends some nice chances to Haydock on Saturday looking to keep his exceptional run of form going having been in the winners enclosure frequently in August.

His first big chance of the day comes from the £2.1 million purchase Hafit who made a smart debut at Newmarket and is now stepping up in grade.

Other nice runners for the yard at the weekend include Global Storm who is the current favourite for the Old Borough Cup Handicap and Creative Force in the Sprint Cup.

Appleby can not be in better form over the last 14 days having landed six winners from 17 runners which sees him pose a 35% strike rate.

Jockey To Follow - Tom Marquand

The jockey to follow at the weekend from Haydock is the superstar Tom Marquand who is going from strength to strength in his career and has some big chances on Saturday.

His obvious biggest shout of the afternoon on Merseyside comes from Starman who is looking to land his second Group One win of the season.

Away from the Sprint Cup, Marquand's other big chances include Power Of Beauty in the Listed Ascendant Stakes, My Oberon in the Superior Mile Stakes and Vino Vinctrix in the Class 2 1m6f Handicap.
