Trainer To Follow - Roger Varian

Roger Varian has some nice runners at Haydock on Saturday starting in the 13:45 with

Bayside Boy. Was third in the Group 1 Dewhurst and Futurity. Never involved in the French

2000 Guineas on return but back on track when seventh in St James's Palace so has decent

looking form and looks a great price to be in the mix at least.

In the 14:20, Roger Varian runs the horse Open Champion. Goes handicapping, but he is

unexposed and promises to be suited by this step up in trip which looks to be an open affair.

Varian heads into this meeting boasting a 16% strike rate in the past two weeks,

accumulating 6 winners from his last 38 runners.

Jockey To Follow - Ben Curtis

Ben Curtis is having a fine season to date as he is currently third in the Jockeys

Championship, only 5 winners behind Hollie Doyle. He can enhance his credentials in

terms of catching her at Haydock on Saturday with a few interesting looking rides.

One of his chances of the day comes in the opener with Seeking Gold looking to build

on his latest win at Yarmouth in a Class 1 Listed event. Step up to a mile should be

within reach for this 2 year old and looks promising.

He teams up with Ian Williams on Sarsons Risk in the Class 2 event at 14:20 and then

in the Old Borough Cup Handicap he sits on current second favourite, Contact who

looks a consistent sort over 1m6f.

Other nice rides include Flaming Rib in the Group 1 Sprint Cup and Nomadic Empire in

the penultimate race of the day.

Curtis heads into the meeting with some good looking rides and is currently operating

at a strike rate of 18% for the last two weeks managing 6 winners from his last 34 rides.
