David Menuisier’s string are in red-hot form and Migration could be about to keep up that rich vein of form in the opening contest of the Glorious Goodwood Festival.

The five-year-old gelding made a most eye-catching return after nearly two years off the track, finishing strongly once granted a clear passage, and he may well have got closer to his rivals that day with a little more luck in running.

He came in for a significant amount of support before the off, which suggests he has been showing plenty at home and with William Buick retaining the ride here he should only improve again under his optimum conditions with the cobwebs well and truly off.

This Showcasing colt shaped with a decent amount of encouragement on his racecourse debut last month, running on with some aplomb after being held up in the early stages of the race.

The step up in trip looks a positive move off the back of that run and with the prospect of much more to come now he has a run under his belt, William Haggas’ juvenile looks to hold leading claims in this, providing he is able to translate that form to the turf.

This chap was pitched into Listed company for his racecourse debut and was subject to a sustained gamble throughout the day, which evidently proves he is held in the highest regard by connections, and his performance that day suggested he is more than worth his place in pattern company, despite showing his inexperience.

He again showed his lack of experience when unruly to post and keen throughout his race at Sandown earlier this month, but did run well despite all that to finish third behind the main market protagonist in this.

The fact his trainer has persevered with him in hot company suggests he has been working well back at the yard, so if he is able to iron out his quirks he may provide some value against the favourite here.

Brian Meehan’s filly came in for a fair amount of support ahead of his debut at Bath last month, and may well have made a winning start to his career had he broke on terms and settled better throughout.

She was quickly turned out after that run, and shaped much better for the experience when running a great race in the Queen Mary at the Royal meeting.

She was well in contention 1f out before steadily fading into fifth, though that run suggested this daughter of Oasis Dream holds plenty of ability given the opposition she was up against and in this decidedly weaker contest she could be set to get off the mark third time up with Ryan Moore now booked.

Given the noise her yard have been making in the build up to this event connections clearly think this filly is a Group 1 winner in the making, and although she is yet to register a win at that level her second behind Palace Pier in the Lockinge and her fourth in the Falmouth Stakes this season very much support them claims.

Her rider felt plenty went wrong the last day, suggesting she may have got her head in front with a little more fortune in running, and with her connections reporting she is only getting better with every start this could be her ideal opportunity to finally gain that breakthrough Group 1 success.
