Magical On The Heels Of Ghaiyyath For Cartier Horse Of The Year

Magical

Magical is in hot pursuit of Cartier Horse Of The Year award leader Ghaiyyath after dethroning the champion last weekend in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

The Aidan O'Brien trained mare has had a superb season racing four times and landing three Group One competitions whilst coming second in another and after landing the spoils on Saturday, she now sits just six points behind the Charlie Appleby trained runner.

Coolmore and Godolphin dominate the award standings at this stage of the season, jointly having the top five on the leaderboard with with Love, Sunday's Grosser Preis von Baden winner Barney Roy and Matron third Fancy Blue rounding out the top five slots.

Irish Champions Weekend was huge for the Cartier Award standings in the juvenile division with the Joseph O'Brien trained Thunder Moon's sensational performance in the Vincent O'Brien National Stakes moved him to 32 points which sees him go close with Coventry Stakes winner Nando Parrado and Norfolk Stakes winner The Lir Jet.

Donnacha O'Brien's Shale was an impressive winner of the Moyglare Stud Stakes and she goes alongside Campanelle for Wesley Ward on 48 points with Joseph O'Brien's filly Pretty Gorgeous 12 points behind them.
