This race at Leopardstown is dominated by Irish trainers Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott. The former has three runners in this one, with the first of those being Grangeclare West. The eight-year-old enters this task on the back of three wins in a row.
After winning a somewhat low-key contest at Punchestown last April, he was switched to fences at Naas in November on his seasonal reappearance, winning by nearly three lengths to Heart Wood (11/10fav Corbetts Cross in third). He then claimed the G1 Neville Hotels Novice Chase here in December by six lengths, again triumphing against favourite Corbetts Cross by six lengths.
It would be no surprise to see him do well again here, but looks to be playing third-fiddle to the other of Mullins' runners here in Fact To File and Gaelic Warrior. Patrick Mullins does the steering.
