Age: 5
Weight: 8-4
OR: 82
Days: 37

The first selection of the afternoon on day four of Glorious Goodwood is the Coral Goodwood Handicap over 2m4f and the Milton Harris trained Super Superjack looks a very interesting runner.

Off a mark of 82 this gelding might have more in the locker over a trip like this having been highly progressive over the last year or so, having only finished outside the top three in one of his last 12 events.

This season the five year old has been seen three times, winning over two miles at Goodwood off a mark of 70 in April, he then went to Ascot over the same trip and made it back to back successes off 4lb higher.

Looking for a hat-trick at York when next seen he was a bold second behind the progressive Evaluation off 79 and then last time off the same mark as today he was a very close third at Salisbury.

Up in trip makes him interesting and if not in the grasp of the handicapper, he can't be rules out.

Berkshire Shadow

J: Jason Watson
T: Andrew Balding
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-3
OR: 111
Days: 22

The first big race of the day on Friday is the Group Three Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes over a mile and Berkshire Shadow for Andrew Balding looks the value in the race.

A very smart juvenile winning his first two events at Ascot and Newbury over five and six furlongs, he then went to Goodwood over 7f and finished a good second behind dual Group One winner Angel Bleu in the G2 Vintage Stakes at last years meeting.

Seen twice more as a two year old he ran no race in the Gimcrack Stakes but then put up a superb performance to finish fourth in the Group One Dewhurst Stakes.

Back this term he made his seasonal debut in the 2000 Guineas and was a good fifth at a big price, and then next time out was not disgraced in the Group One St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot when sixth in a bunched finish.

Seen once more, he was last seen behind Mighty Ulysses and Alflaila in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes in third, with the latter horse since franking the form.

Should be closer to the favourite in the betting and looks the value.

Ouzo

J: Saffie Osborne
T: Jamie Osborne
N/A
Age: 6
Weight: 9-0
OR: 94
Days: 27

The big handicap event of the day is the Golden Mile Handicap and with 20 runners going to post we have two potential runners who could go close.

The first is the Jamie Osbourne trained Ouzo who is a seasonal professional in these types of events and off the back of his last two runs at a mile could be a contender.

Running in the Whitsun Cup at Sandown on his seasonal debut he went on to finish a neck second behind Rebel Territory who he opposes again here.

Running no race at Royal Ascot in the Buckingham Palace Stakes, he bounced back to form in the Coral Challenge at the start of July and was a superb third behind the talented Sinjaari and Checkandchallenge.

Getting a stone off the winner that day in this he holds a big chance of hitting the places at 20/1.

Lawful Command

J: George Rooke
T: Brian Meehan
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 8-3
OR: 91
Days: 20

Currently as I write Lawful Command is a first reserve into the race but if getting a slot, this Goodwood lover holds a big chance at the weights for Brian Meehan.

A very progressive type, having finished last season strongly he picked up from where he left off this term on seasonal debut when winning off a mark of 79 over course and distance.

In May he made it back to back wins over C&D, seeing off the talented Spinaround for John & Thady Gosden only receiving 3lb.

Seen twice more this term, he wen to Royal Ascot off a mark of 87 in the Britannia Stakes and was a close up fifth behind some well handicapped types and then last time out up another 4lb at Newmarket he was a fair fourth.

Off the same mark of 91 he should hit the frame once more if getting into the race.

William Buick

Lazuli

J: William Buick
T: Charlie Appleby
N/A
Age: 5
Weight: 9-7
OR: 109
Days: 45

The feature race of the afternoon is the Group Two King George Qatar Stakes over five furlongs and we are siding with Lazuli who looks overpriced.

Being a solid sprinter throughout his career, winning races like the Group Three Palace House, Group Three Dubai International and Listed Scurry Stakes, he is now trying to land the biggest race of his career.

Returning over six furlongs at Meydan in January off the back of a break he finished a good second to stablemate Man Of Promise.

Dropped to his preferred 5f for the Group Two Blue Point Sprint at Meydan he was a nice winner from Acklam Express.

Given a break since then he returned in the Group One King's Stands Stakes at Royal Ascot when probably on the wrong side of the track and not running his best race.

If getting back to some of his older form, his price of 8/1 looks big.

Rebel's Romance

J: William Buick
T: Charlie Appleby
N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 9-3
OR: 111
Days: 34

One of our best bets of the afternoon comes in the Group Three L'Ormarins Queen's Plate Glorious Stakes and Rebel's Romance back on the turf last time out showed his class.

A very smart horse at the start of his career when racking up a hat-trick of wins at Newcastle, Kempton and Meydan, he then didn't take to the dirt only winning one of his four events on the surface over in the Middle East.

Looking to bounce back to form up in trip to 12f and back to turf at Newmarket last time out in the Fred Archer Stakes, he went on to bolt up.

He is a very talented horse that if in the same form will be very tough to beat.

Gaallib

J: Sean Levey
T: Richard Hannon
N/A
Age: 2
Weight: 9-2
OR: 85
Days: 14

The penultimate runner of the afternoon at Goodwood on day four for us comes in the Class 2 Nursery Handicap over six furlongs and at a bit of a price the Richard Hannon trained Gaallib could run a big race.

The two year old has been seen three times this season, needing his debut over course and distance when looking to learn a lot for the experience.

He then improved at Newbury when next seen finishing a better fifth, but last time out he put it all together and got off the mark in decisive fashion at Nottingham.

Making his handicap debut off a mark of 85 looks reasonable and knowing how progressive Hannon has these types of horses, he is worth watching.

Luke Morris

Omniscient

J: Luke Morris
T: Sir Mark Prescott Bt
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-1
OR: 75
Days: 8

The final runner of the afternoon looks to be a typical plot job by Sir Mark Prescott and we think Omniscient is well in off his mark of 81.

Performing to an average level when sent over shorter than ideal trips, last time out when upped to 10f he put up a career best performance to get off the mark by close to six lengths.

Only given 6lb for that he should have more in the tank and looks the one to beat.
