The feature race of the afternoon at Sandown on Saturday is the 2022 renewal of the Coral Eclipse and we are siding with the William Haggas trained Alenquer at a price to go close.

A course distance winner as a three year old when taking the Group Three Classic Trial on just his third start, beating Derby winner Adayar and Breeders' Cup Turf winner Yibir.

Stepping up to 1m4f after that he took the Group Two King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot and in his three other runs that term he placed in the Grand Prix de Paris, Juddmonte International and then ran no race in the Arc, but even having a chance in that race makes him a very classy horse.

Back this term in late February he saw off Lord North at Lingfield in the Group Three Derby Stakes and then off the back of that went to Meydan where he was sixth of 15 in the Group One Dubai Sheema Classic.

Seen once more this term at the Curragh for the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup he saw off High Definition and recent Royal Ascot winner State Of Rest to take the event.

Alenquer is still improving at the age of four and having been kept fresh for this event, his price of 8/1 looks huge value at this stage.

Trainer To Follow - George Boughey

Classic winning trainer George Boughey sends three runners to the Esher track and all of them have big chance with William Buick riding all of them.

His first ride of the afternoon comes in the Listed Coral Distaff with Oscula looking for back to back wins having taken a Listed event at Carlisle.

In the penultimate event of the afternoon Land Of Eagles holds a big chance off the back of his win at Chepstow last time out and now back in handicap company should go close.

In the finale, Boughey has Lovely Mana who was a winner at Newcastle when dropped down to 5f last time out and could back it up.

Boughey heads into the meeting sporting a 23% strike rate over the last 14 days, with him having managed 11 winners from his last 48 races.

Jockey To Follow - Kieran Shoemark

Kieran Shoemark could be in for a great day at Sandown on Saturday with a handful of great rides that should see him atleast once feature in the winners enclosure.

In the opener Shoemark has one of his potentially best rides with Equilateral for Charlie Hills, the Group Two winner drops in class and should be much fitter after his seasonal debut.

The Coral Challenge looks a tricky event but the rider has the best ride in the race according to the market on SInjaari, who's last run at Royal Ascot in the Royal Hunt Cup sets the form standard.

He rides the outsider in the Coral Distaff and then in the first handicap of the day he sits on Arqoob looking to bounce back to form.

Shoemark rounds the day With rides on Miss Down Under for Amanda Perrett and Live In the Moment for Adam West, with both of them having big chances.
