Who To Follow At Newbury On Saturday - 15/04/21

Horse To Follow - Happy Romance

The Listed Carnavon Stakes over six furlongs looks a highly competitive affair on Saturday and if more rain comes Happy Romance could be the value angle.

The three year old has been highly progressive throughout her career landing a hat-trick as a juvenile, starting in a 25 runner Class 2 at Newbury.

She then went to York in another big fielded handicap and demolished the field which saw her step up to a Group Three at Salisbury where again she got the job done in style.

The filly ended her juvenile season in the 6f Group One Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket and ran to a good standard to finish fourth of eight runners.

This season the filly returned at Newbury over 7f and did not suit the step up in trip, but last time out back at 6f she got back to winning ways at Chelmsford.

That run would have got her ready for this event and getting some cut in the ground will only be beneficial for her and against others at the top of the market.

Trainer To Follow - Richard Hannon

Richard Hannon is a man who has been having winners up and down the country this season and on Saturday at Newbury he has some big chances early on in the card.

In the first race of the day he fields the exciting Dukebox who made an outstanding start to his racecourse life when winning on debut at Kempton and the step up to 6f should suit.

Another big chance comes in the next race with Happy Romance back in Listed company, with this three year old being superb for the yard last year and having won last time out should be bang there.

Jockey To Follow - Ryan Moore

Ryan Moore is a man in form at the moment and after having a good time of things at York he is looking to keep that run going at Newbury.

He teams up with Richard Hannon in the first two races with Dukebox and Happy Romance, who both have good chances and then in the Group Three Al Rayyan Stakes he sits on Thunderous for Mark Johnston.

Other big shouts for the Englishman across the day come from Bay Bridge in the London Gold Cup Handicap and in the feature Group One Lockinge Stakes he teams up with Aidan O'Brien and Lope Y Fernandez.

Moore has managed to land 12 winners from 43 runenrs over the last fortnight, which has seen him pose a 27.91% strike rate.
