The feature race of the afternoon at Doncaster is the Group One Vertem Futurity Stakes over a mile and the horse we have sided with is the Mark Johnston trained Royal Patronage.

The two year old son of leading sire Wootton Bassett has been seen five times this season, needing his first experience at York on soft ground, with conditions not in his favour.

However, since then he has shown leading form in this division finishing a superb second to the dual Group One winner Native Trail at Sandown.

Royal Patronage has franked the form on three occasions since then, getting off the mark on his third attempt at Epsom in a Novice Stakes and then backing that up at York in the Group Three Acomb Stakes at York.

Last time out he stepped up once more to give a career best performance at Newmarket over a mile to land the Group Two Royal Lodge Stakes.

What made this win so impressive was the way he stayed on to beat Coroebus on the line, with the Godolphin colt since going on and franking the form in a big way.

Landing the hat-trick last time out he heads into the event in good form and looks one of the form picks.

Trainer To Follow - Tim Easterby

Leading Yorkshire based trainer Tim Easterby has some nice chances at Doncaster on Saturday where he look to pick up some nice prize money before the flat racing starts to calm down.

One of his best chances of the day comes in the penultimate event of the day with Sunday Sovereign taking the eye at a nice each way price in the five furlong handicap.

He has some other nice chances across the card at each way prices that he will hope to see hit the frame but the local trainer should not be dismissed.

Jockey To Follow - Ryan Moore

Ryan Moore has not been in the best of form of late but at Town Moor on Saturday he has a huge chance to turn things around with plenty of live chances.

In the second race of the day he sits on the Marco Botti trained Way To Win who will revel in the soft ground and then off the back of that he rides Walhaan for James Tate.

He sits on another favourite in Aaddeyy for Simon & Ed Crisford and then rounds off the day riding for his father who has a live chance with Areehaa.

Moore's best chance of the day comes from the Aidan O'Brien trained Luxembourg in the Group One Vertem Futurity Stakes with the two year old currently unbeaten.

Another nice shout for the rider is Deodar in the Listed Doncaster Stakes who will be looking to make it two from two.
