Unbeaten Star Bellosa Set Jersey Stakes Target

Bellosa

Trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam has decided to send her up and coming stable star Bellosa into the Group Three Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, with the filly putting her two race unbeaten record on the line.

The three year old filly has bounced onto the racing scene in a big way this term having been seen twice to date over seven furlongs at Newmarket and has won impressively on both occasions.

Bellosa was first seen in April and after being well backed on debut and she ran out a very impressive winner of a Fillies' Maiden, tearing apart the field by seven lengths.

The female handler obviously knew she had a monster on her hands after that performance and sent her last time out into the Listed King Charles II Stakes and again she ran out a smart winner.

Bookmakers assessed her as a 12-1 shot for the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot after her most recent triumph, but Chapple-Hyam is looking instead to the seven-furlong Jersey Stakes at the royal meeting.

“She’s come out of Newmarket really well and we’re really pleased with her.

“The Coronation Stakes is a mile, which I don’t believe she’ll get, so we’re going to go for the Jersey which is seven furlongs, the same distance as her wins on the straight on the Rowley Mile.”
