Throwback Thursday Race Of The Day - 30/10/21

Waldgeist

Today we are looking back at the 2019 winner of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, with the race built up as being Enable's hat-trick seeking event, but the show was stolen by the home nation.

In 2019 with the rain getting into the ground it scuppered Enable's chance of becoming the first horse in the history of the race to land three straight renewals of the race.

Having gone for home two furlongs out under Frankie she powered clear but could not outstay the flying home Waldgeist for Pierre-Charles Boudot, who landed his first win in the race.

Waldgeist over the years had been a phenomenal horse to own winning plenty of big Group One races in France and trying to win some of the big middle distance black type races in England.

However, the biggest win of his career came in this race and after that he has never been seen again on a racecourse.

Enjoy!
