MUSTAJEER LANDS THE EBOR FOR IRELAND

The Sky Bet £1 million Ebor Handicap was the feature on day four of York's meeting with 22 runners heading to post to try and take home £600,000 in first place prize money.

The horse that did it was Mustajeer for trainer Ger Lyons, with the six year old fourth in the contest last year he came back to get his revenge and he did by storming to victory down the Knavesmire.

That was Mustajeer's last run for the trainer with the gelding being bought before the showpiece at York and will head to Australia next month to join trainer Kris Lees.

He will now be aimed at some of the big handicap contests down under with the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne cup on offer for the Ebor winner.

SHINE SO BRIGHT EDGES LAURENS IN CITY OF YORK CRACKER

Another feature on the Saturday at York was the Group Two City Of York Stakes and it gave us one of the most competitive contests of the week.

King Power owned Shine So Bright was backed all day in the betting ring and managed to just see off the favourite Laurens in a nail bitting finish towards the line with a Photo-Finish having to call the winner.

The Andrew Balding trained colt had not been at his best in a few of his races this season but was primed for this run seeing off a stellar mare in Laurens who is a six tie Group One winner.

SUEDOIS TAKES SUPREME STAKES

Goodwood was the feature card in England on Sunday and the best race of the meeting came in the Group Three Supreme Stakes where Suedois took the spoils.

This eight year old has been placed in behind some of the greatest horses of our generation on the flat finishing behind the likes of Beat The Bank, Limato, Sir Dancealot and Lord Glitters to name a few.

However the veteran finally landed his first Group contest in Britain beating some of his old rivals and field that contained some strong young runners.

It was a huge moment for his trainer David O'Meara and and his connections who had been waiting for this day for a long time.
