Richmond Stakes Guide

1. Don't Stop Dancing

Trainer - Ronald Harris

Jockey - P J McDonald

The first horse in the Group 2 contest is the Ronald Harris trained Don't Stop Dancing who is the big outsider of the field at 66/1 and you can see why with the colt only having two races in Class 6 event at Chepstow.

His debut run was a modest sixth but next time out he got off the mark, but even though he is heading into this race off the back of a victory the step up in Class looks far to much and he is a opposable.

2. Dream Shot

Trainer - James Tate

Jockey - Jamie Spencer

This juvenile looks to be a bigger price than what he should be, off the back of some nice performances heading into this race.

The colt started his racing career back in May at Goodwood in a Class 4 and straight away took to it getting off the mark in good style.

From there he finished third in a better Class 2 at Beverley and last time out finished second in behind a smart filly in a Listed event.

This form could read really well with Liberty Beach racing on Wednesday at the festival so it would not be a surprise to see him in the placings at a big price.

3. Fleeting Prince

Trainer - Charles Hills

Jockey - James Doyle

This colt is another that is having a huge step up in class but it could be justified with how well he has performed in both his runs today in lesser events.

He started his career at Chepstow in a Class 4 finishing second in a small fielded event but showing plenty of potential and looking like he could improve.

He did exactly that at Windsor in Class 5, beating 11 runners nicely and with James Doyle on board he has to be taken seriously.

4. Golden Horde

Trainer - Clive Cox

Jockey - Adam Kirby

The dream flat partnership of Clive Cox and Adam Kirby team up on the turf this time after already proving there worth on the all weather this season.

Golden Horde looks a nice recruit for the yard starting his career in May and finishing a good fourth at Newbury and then just a month later got off the mark nicely at Windsor.

He was stepped up in class when he was put in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and finished a solid fifth which looks good form.

5. Guildsman

Trainer - Archie Watson

Jockey - Oisin Murphy

The second favourite in the contest is Guildsman and if he finds the form from his third at the royal meeting in the Coventry Stakes he is a serious player.

He scored on his debut over course and distance which again is a big factor and then went to Royal Ascot but his last run was a step backwards at Newmarket and he needs to bounce back here.

6. King Neptune

Trainer - Aidan O'Brien

Jockey - Ryan Moore

The first of the Aidan O'Brien runners is King Neptune and he looks one of the most exposed horses in the field but still retains a lot of ability.

He started his campaign off over in Ireland putting in some smart performances at Dundalk and the Curragh, not being out the top two on his first three starts.

He was then stepped up in class when sent to Royal Ascot and was a good sixth in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes but last time out was not as good in the July Stakes and needs to be better here.

7. Maxi Boy

Trainer - Michael Bell

Jockey - Frankie Dettori

A horse that has gone slightly under the radar in this race is Maxi Boy for Michael Bell who has not done a lot wrong in his three races to date and could enter frame calculations here.

He won nicely on debut at Yarmouth in a Class 3 beating a nice Godolphin horse that has since won both his races. He was then put in the Coventry and could have performed better but still retained his potential.

He was much better in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes when a decent third behind two smart juveniles and if coming on for that with Frankie Dettori on board he has to be watched.

8. Misty Grey

Trainer - Mark Johnston

Jockey - Joe Fanning

Mark Johnston's only runner in the race has some very consistent form in his five runs only finishing outside the top three on one occasion and getting off the mark in his second run.

He does look slightly exposed but his latest second in a Listed event at Newbury was a nice run but it looks a tough task for him to be involved here.

9. Royal Commando

Trainer - Charles Hills

Jockey - Kieran Shoemark

This juvenile has only raced twice in his career finishing fourth o debut but getting off the mark last time out in a maiden at Doncaster.

Although this is a much stiffer test he looks to hold plenty of ability and could just give a turn up for the books in this highly talented Group 2.

10. Royal Dornoch

Trainer - Aidan O'Brien

Jockey - Wayne Lordan

The last of the Ballydoyle runners looks a bit out of his depth in this company but an Aidan O'Brien runner can never be discounted especially in these big fields.

He was poor on debut at the Curragh only beating one other runner but last time out at Fairyhouse he was much better finishing a good second and needs to build on that on Thursday.

11. Symbolize

Trainer - Andrew Balding

Jockey - David Probert

Symbolize looks a very useful type for Andrew Balding not doing that much wrong so far in his career showing a clear will to go and win races.

He won nicely on debut at Salisbury and when stepped up in class at Royal Ascot he finished a solid fourth from a rough draw in the 21 runner Windsor Castle Stakes and off the back of that is a player in this one.

12. Threat

Trainer - Richard Hannon

Jockey - Tom Marquand

The big favourite to take this one is Richard Hannon's best juvenile this season with Threat who from his two races looks a really smart horse.

He got off the mark on his debut in a Class 3 at Newmarket and then finished an ever so close second in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes when losing in a photo finish.

He has the strongest form in the race and is rightfully the one to beat in the market.

13. Volatile Analyst

Trainer - Keith Dalgleish

Jockey - Daniel Tudhope

Another one at a big price but could turn out to be anything being the most lightly raced horse in the field only racing once and scoring nicely at Ayr.

He will have to come on for that in this company but could be a big improver and Danny Tudhope is in the form of his life.
