Group Two Lowther Stakes Guide 2021

The two year old has bounced onto the sprinting scene in a big way this term, making his debut on the all weather at Kempton and winning comfortably.

He was sent straight into group company off the back of that run at Royal Ascot in the Albany Stakes and on heavy ground he built a stellar field to land the event comfortably.

Turned out again last month, Sandrine made it three wins from three when landing the Group Two Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket on good to firm ground.

The sprinting star has shown versatility and speed on differing ground is massively the one to beat in the 6f juvenile division.

The daughter of Invincible Spirit bounced onto the scene in May bolting up in a Maiden Stakes at Wolverhampton by close to seven lengths.

Off the back of that he went to Royal Ascot and was pitched into the Group Three Albany Stakes where he finished a good second behind Sandrine.

Last time out on different quicker ground she was a bit underwhelming when being beaten fair and square by Sandrine for a second time into third.

She will need to give a career best to reverse the form and looks held by the favourite overall.

Zain Claudette outran her odds on debut for trainer Ismail Mohammed with an opening price of 40/1 and just missed out by a neck when going clear with subsequent Group 2 placed runner Hellomydarlin at Goodwood (6f).

That form line looks strong and unsurprisingly, Zain Claudette, scored emphatically at Newmarket next time out by a 2 3/4 length margin.

The daughter of No Nay Never was entitled to improve once more and she did last time out when narrowly beating Desert Dreamer to land the Princess Margaret.

She is expected to go close again and looks very progressive.

The filly has been seen five times during her small career scoring on debut at Newmarket in a smart five furlong maiden that has seen the form franked on numerous occasions.

Stepped up to six furlong next time out she was another good winner at Newmarket and off the back of that headed to Royal Ascot.

She was sent into the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes and although running nicely could only finish midfield, with the drop to 5f finding her out.

Since then she has been seen twice more, finishing a bright second in the Listed Empress Stakes behind rival System and again last time out she was another close runner up behind the unbeaten Sandrine in the Group Two Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket.

Continuing with her unlucky run she was another good second at Ascot last time out when losing the Group Three Margaret Stakes by a nose to Zain Claudette.

She takes her on in this event again, but having Oisin Murphy back on board in the form he is in could be a big factor.

Illustrating could be a value each way player in the event for Karl Burke having shown the best of his ability last time out at Goodwood.

The daughter of Showcasing was first seen in a Novice Stakes over five furlongs at Catterick where she beat a fair field comfortably.

She then went to Royal Ascot for the Queen Mary Stakes and finished a decent seventh in a big field and improved a bunch from that run at Goodwood when taking the Conditions Stakes with ease.

Looks highly progressive and should handle any ground.

This grey filly looks to have it all to do stepping up in class but holding good York form does give her a big edge on some of her rivals with the Knavesmire being a notoriously tricky track.

The daughter of Iffraaj was first seen at Lingfield in July when a narrow second in a small runner Novice Stakes, but she improved to get off the mark next time out when winning over course and distance convincingly.

She must improve in this field but she is very much an unknown entity, progressing well of late and could cause a surprise at a track she likes.

The daughter of Nay Nay Never left behind an average debut run at Newmarket to claim Listed honours on only her second career start, the form being franked since by the second who’s won twice.

She was then seen running in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot where she didn’t have the clearest of passages after being outpaced and finished midfield.

Looking to get back to form she went to Goodwood for the Group Three Molecomb Stakes and finished fourth behind some nice runners.

However, that effort proved she is outclassed at this level and connections will be hoping that return to better ground and up in trip will bring improvement.

Vertiginous remains a maiden after three runs, however stepped up massively from her second placed debut effort to finish fifth in the Group Two Queen Mary at Ascot.

Looking to get off the mark for her career she went to Kempton in a maiden, but did everything wrong round the bend and had to settle for second behind Silken Petals.

Looks vulnerable back up in trip and grade.

Misty Ayr is a big priced runner for Keith Dalgliesh at 28/1, but looks to be one of the most experienced in the field running four times and getting off the mark last time out.

Having put some nice runs together she went to Hamilton in a Novice Stakes last time out and got off the mark, albeit it only being a three runner race.

This looks out of her depth.

The penultimate runner of the race is the 50/1 outsider Dreams Of Thunder, who like many in this field is a nice filly, but does not look good enough to cut it at this level.

The daughter of Night Of Thunder was a 265,000gns purchase that has been seen three times to date, finishing third of six on debut at Windsor before going to Beverley and placing again.

She was last seen finishing second at Windsor over 5f, being beaten four lengths by the smart Auditor who has some nice form, but now she is in a Group Two she looks very vulnerable.

The daughter of Declaration Of War went off a 6/5 favourite on debut at Newbury and took a keen hold, ran green, but ultimately always had enough to prevail upon soft conditions by a 1 1/4 length margin.

She was then sent to Ascot for the Group Three Princess Margaret Stakes on quicker ground and was behind some of these rivals just getting tapped for a bit of pace.

Off the back of that she needs to improve a fair bit but it is not out of the question.
