Intellogent

Intellogent has been steadily progressive in handicaps this season. He ran an absolute cracker at Royal Ascot to finish second in the Royal Hunt Cup, he then backed that up with an unlucky third behind Anmaat last time out in the John Smith’s Cup at York.

He did well to finish third there, and there’s no reason why he can’t reverse the form. Top chance.

Marie's Diamond

Probably not the force of old, but Marie’s Diamond certainly showed signs that he still has all the ability last time out when a good second in a listed race at Pontefract where he had Modern News beaten into third.

Probably has a chance on his best form, but he’s unlikely to be able to dominate this.

Certain Lad

T: Mick Channon

Certain Lad is certainly solid. He’s a reliable six-year-old who rarely runs a bad race. However, he has performed disappointingly now on his last two starts.

You’d have expected better from him after his solid placed efforts in group company earlier this season. But even with returning to handicaps, he’s failed to impress.

He has something to prove now and age isn’t on his side. Avoidable.

Passion And Glory

A winner of a listed race last time out at Sandown, Passion And Glory still looks to be a force here in the UK. He’s been globetrotting a lot in the last few seasons, but his UK record is especially solid.

With the win last time out under his belt, he could well follow up in what’s a muddling contest.

Absolutely bolted up last time out, contrary to the official winning margin suggests. He put the race to bed with a furlong and a half to go, and Cadillac would never have gotten past.

There was a nine length gap back to the third there, so it was a really impressive performance on his first start on British soil.

He should be able to kick on again now, especially with the yard’s current form taken into account. Massive chance in what looks a relatively weak race for the grade.

Brentford Hope

Brentford Hope is probably just short of this level. He needs soft ground and he’s not certain to see any of that here. His best form puts him in with a small squeak, that said, his best form is on very soft ground.

He’ll have to improve massively to make his presence felt in this company. Hard to fancy.

A good winner of a competitive handicap at Epsom on Oaks day, Royal Champion certainly delivered on some of the promise he showed early in his career.

He’s a fragile horse, and he’s only seen the track five times, but he’s always competed at a relatively good level. Connections still have faith in him, and he’s clearly still got ample amounts of ability.

Anmaat

J: Jim Crowley
T: Owen Burrows

Progressive Awtaad gelding. Anmaat capped off a productive year last season by finishing second in the ultra-competitive Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket.

Coming off the back of several months off the track, Anmaat put up another career best last time out when winning the John Smith’s Cup at York.

That was a huge effort, and if he can build on that, there’s no reason he won’t be competitive here.

Foxes Tales

J: David Probert
T: Andrew Balding
N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 9-7
OR: 108

Foxes Tales had a good year last year, but he’s been out of sorts thus far this season. He was fourth of seven last time out at Sandown and he didn’t appear to have any excuses.

Prior to that he contested a relatively weak listed race at Ascot and he failed to make any sort of an impact. He is certainly not up to last year’s form on this seasons evidence.

Peter The Great

J: Robert Havlin
T: John & Thady Gosden
N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 9-7

Looking to make it three on the bounce here after two relatively comfortably handicap successes. Peter The Great is still unexposed in context to some of his rivals here, he’s lightly raced so he could still be improving.

However, he’ll certainly need to step up now into group company.
