Night In Vegas 11/2
Has been chasing big pots in the valuable juvenile sales races this term and has acquitted himself as a really talented sort. Drops back in trip here but has the speed for 6 furlongs and the extra stamina will help up Ascot’s stiff finish. Had this highlighted as his end of season target and looks for his fourth win in a row.
Gregory 7/2
Gained group honours at this venue in the Queen’s Vase in 2023 and returned from a long lay off to win a listed race at York. Took a step forward for that effort when demolishing another listed race at Newmarket last time out, striding clear by 11 lengths. Jumps back up in grade here but faces horses who’ve had long, hard seasons. Unexposed at this trip and has freshness on his side.
Division 10/1
Three year olds have done well in recent years, winning the last two renewals William Haggas’s three year old here brings solid group one form to the table. Finishing a close 3rd in the Commonwealth Cup at the Royal Meeting and narrowly beaten in a Group One over in France in August. Will get a nice pace to aim at here and has held consistent form all season.
Johanna Walsh 13/2
Won the Irish Oaks in good style after being narrowly denied in the Ribblesdale at the Royal Meeting over Course and distance. Didn’t seem to handle soft ground and sat too close to a pace that folded in the Yorkshire Oaks last time out and has been given time to freshen up and returns to a quicker surface.
Rayif 6/1
Handles any going conditions and has had a much less intense campaign than some of his rivals have leading up to this race. A winner of the 2000 Guineas on soft ground in may, a drop in trip didn’t suit before he bounced back with a win in the Prix Jacques le Marois. Has a fantastic turn of foot and has seemingly been kept fresh for this target.
Calandagan 2/1
Got the better of Ombudsman in this race last year and although he hasn’t been at his sparkling best this season, he arrives here off the back of a good 2nd in the King George behind Kalpana. He’ll get a good pace to aim at here again and a good 84 days break will have sharpened him up nicely. Conditions to suit and he goes well at this venue.
Ebt’s Guard 11/1
Has been a reliable and consistent type to keep onside in these big handicaps this season, winning over C+D in August off 98 and staying competitive off high marks since. Handles quick ground well, has dropped to a more workable looking mark of 102 and has good close form with market principal Scoville. Drawn nice and high and can put in another good effort under Lewis Edmunds.
