John and Thady Gosden boast one in the Lester Piggott Stakes with their filly Mimikyu. The four-year-old has been a bit inconsistent over the last year, winning three times at Newmarket, Doncaster and here at Haydock but also finishing seventh in the Listed Galtres Stakes at York and 12th in the Group One British Champions Fillies and Mares Stakes at Ascot. She boasts a grouped win in her armoury and finished second in the Group Three Bronte Cup Stakes at York last month and should improve further.

This looks like a very competitive race at Haydock, and she is certainly in with a chance. The in-form Frankie Dettori takes the ride.

Age: 4
Weight: 9-2
OR: 104

Karl Burke boasts one runner in the Lester Piggott Stakes with his filly Poptronic. The four-year-old has had a decent start to her career, winning three times including the Group Three Hoppings Fillies’ Stakes at Newcastle last June and placing three times, most recently in the Group Two Middleton Fillies’ Stakes at York last month (third behind Rogue Millennium and Free Wind). She was last of seven in the Yorkshire Oaks but there has been lots to like in her early career.

Despite her progression, this feels like a tough task for her and while she isn’t completely dismissed, it is unlikely that she will claim victory here. Sam James is booked to ride.

Age: 4
Weight: 9-2

William Haggas sends one of his runners to the Lester Piggott Stakes at Haydock on Saturday with his filly Sea Silk Road. The four-year-old has failed to win since impressive victory in the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood last May, with a runner-up finish in the Group Two Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot last June her best effort since. She also finished third in the Group Three Dubai Stakes at Newmarket but was only sixth on reappearance this term in Group Two Middleton Fillies’ Stakes won by Free Wind at York last month.

Likely to do better than that and can do so back down in class but others are in better form prior to this one. This Sea The Stars filly is not discounted and Tom Marquand is booked to ride.

T: Harry & Roger Charlton

Age: 4
Weight: 9-2
OR: 102
Days: 36

Roger Charlton sends one runner to the Lester Piggott Stakes at Haydock with Time Lock. The four-year-old has begun her career well, following up her victory in a fillies’ novice at Newmarket last May by finishing runner-up on her last three runs since. Those second-place finishes include being a neck behind Haskoy in the Listed Galtres Stakes at York and she finished a length behind Luisa Casati in the Listed Warwick Fillies’ Stakes at Goodwood last month prior to this Haydock event.

This Frankel filly should be there or thereabouts come the finish and more improvement is expected of her after five career starts. Ryan Moore will do the steering.

Nachtrose

J: Rene Piechulek
T: P Schiergen
N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 9-2
OR: 106
Days: 27

Peter Schiergen sends one runner to this contest at Haydock on Saturday with Nachtrose. The four-year-old won on her first two career outings last year, in a maiden at Munich and the Oaks d’Italia at Milan but hasn’t really advanced too much since. She finished runner-up in a group two race at Hoppegarten last month so isn’t dismissed and there’s every chance she can come on from that.

This contest is likely to be tougher, but Schiergen’s filly is certainly in the mix in this strong contest. Rene Piechulek will do the steering.

David Egan

Modaara

J: David Egan
T: Roger Varian
N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 9-2
OR: 97
Days: 31

Roger Varian sends one of his runners to the Lester Piggott Stakes in the form of Modaara. The four-year-old arrives at Haydock for the first time after winning her last two races following a fourth-place finish in class five maiden at Yarmouth last September. She then won a Chelmsford City novice by three lengths before storming home to win class five Kempton novice by a whopping 13 lengths last month.

There seems to be much more to come from this filly and while this is tougher, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her go well here and justify here position in the market. David Egan is booked to ride.
