Michael Appleby sends one of his runners to the group three event on Newbury's race card on Saturday in the form of Raasel. The six-year-old arrives at this contest on the back of three extremely solid outings, finishing third in the Group Two Qatar Stakes at Goodwood in August, first in a class two Haydock contest earlier this month and second in the Listed Scarborough Stakes at Doncaster last weekend.

He has developed into a great performer at this sort of level over the last year or so and he's massively respected in this field. James Doyle will do the steering.

Age: 4
Weight: 9-0

Andrew Balding has one in this group three sprint over five furlongs at Newbury on Saturday in the form of filly Nymphadora. The four-year-old has recorded two victories since the turn of the year, winning a class two handicap at Chester in May by a length as well as the Listed City Walls Stakes at York in July. Since that victory, she has finished eighth and ninth at Goodwood and York respectively in G1 and G2 company, so may appreciate the drop to this level.

She is likely to bounce back and go better here in the hands of Oisin Murphy.

Tom Marquand

Sense Of Duty

J: Tom Marquand
T: William Haggas
N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 9-0

Days: 455

William Haggas boasts one in the Group Three World Trophy Stakes at Newbury on Saturday in the shape of market favourite Sense Of Duty. The four-year-old hasn't been seen on the track for over 450 days but she followed a second-place finish at Newmarket on debut in 2021 by winning her next four starts, including the Group Three Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle last June by four-and-a-half-lengths to Annaf in second before returning here.

She has that absence to overcome but if she is able to return in the same form, she will be hard to beat here with Tom Marquand doing the steering.

N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 9-0
OR: 96
Days: 31

John Butler sends one runner to this 5f sprint at Newbury in group three company on Saturday in the form of his filly Designer. The four-year-old has produced some decent performances since debuting back in August 2021, which includes three victories at a lesser level at Chester, Kempton and York. Since that last success, she has been inconsistent at a variety of levels, with the highlights being a fourth-place finish in the Listed Lansdown Stakes at Bath in April as well as winning a class two handicap at York last month before this race.

Enters a tougher race here but wouldn't be smart to completely rule her out. Richard Kingscote is booked to ride.

Thunderbear

J: Sean Levey
T: Jack W Davison
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 104
Days: 42

Jack Davison sends one runner to the Group Three Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes at Newbury on Saturday in the shape of Thunderbear. The three-year-old arrives at this contest on the back of finishing fifth in the Group Three Phoenix Sprint Stakes at Curragh last month, which followed an eighth-place finish in a G3 Ascot event in June. His last victory came in a class four handicap at Nottingham over six furlongs ahead of Mutaany but this is much tougher and he hasn't looked like winning at this sort of level in recent times.

Plenty on his plate here and it would be a surprise to see him win, but not completely out of it. Sean Levey is booked to ride.
