This race is dominated by runners from Gordon Elliott's yard, and the first of those is the veteran Sire Du Berlais. The 12-year-old is a course winner here, having claimed success in the G2 Lismullen Hurdle back in 2020 in the hands of Mark Walsh, who is booked to ride here.
The gelding enters this contest in good form, having won the G1 Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham last March before winning the G1 Liverpool Hurdle at Aintree a month later. He capped off last season by finishing third in the G1 Champion Stayers' Hurdle at Punchestown in April, behind Asterion Forlonge and winner Klassical Dream.
He still possesses plenty of ability, but this might be his preparation run for the festival next month (much like a few here).
