Ashroe Diamond ran a very respectable third behind Il Etait Temps and Facile Vega last time out in the G1 Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas.

She never really threatened the front pair but it was an impressive effort against the geldings. She also ran third behind Marine Nationale and Irish Point prior to Leopardstown in the G1 Royal Bond.

Back against her own sex is surely an advantage here and she definitely has the standout form. Top chance.

Saylavee was a good winner of a mares novice last time out at listed level when beating Bella Scintilla by 2 and a half lengths at Punchestown.

She did it well there and looked superior throughout, displaying a fine aptitude towards hurdling. Prior to this, she ran fifth in a G3 novice hurdle at Down Royal, but not much went right for her there. She is going the right way, and she’s already ran to a very useful level.

Serious player.

Whatcouldhavebeen was a gutsy winner of a mares maiden hurdle last time out at Fairyhouse, when slogging it out to beat Feddans, by a length and a half on soft to heavy ground.

There’s no doubt that she needs to improve on that to figure in this contest, but she’s still young (5yo) and she could still be progressing? She has a lot on her plate today though, this would be an unexpected result.

Halka Du Tabert is interesting. She is an unbeaten mare from a P2P background (won her only point by 30L). She just about scraped home to win by a neck in her bumper at Naas and she left the impression she’d mature.

She did over the summer - by the looks of things – she made her hurdles debut at Naas, and won in a canter by 11L from the useful Eabha Grace in second.

She looked good there and won with any amount in hand. There’s no denying these mares have achieved more, though.

Jetara made a decent start to life as a hurdler when chasing the very talented High Definition home at Leopardstown. She ran against the geldings there and she came away from the race with real credit.

She’s not hit the track since, and others have definitely achieved more than her at this stage, so that must be a worry – alongside the dire stable form at the moment.

Jetara is certainly watchable today.

Goodie Two Shoes was third in a maiden hurdle over Christmas at Leopardstown behind Boodles hope Tekao last time out.

She did make a few novicey errors during that contest but she looked as though she would have learnt a lot from that.

She cannot still be learning on the job in this company though, as she has seriously classy mares to get the better of, and Goodie Two Shoes’ form, is currently way off the standard set by some.

Nice horse, but not one for today.
