Dunvegan is a very smart chaser who landed back-to-back handicaps at Fairyhouse before finishing a creditable 12 lengths second to Chacun Pour Soi in the Dublin Chase at Leopardstown in February.

His jumping will be an asset around here, but he faces an uphill task in this company on seasonal reappearance. The outsider at a huge price and one who can be easily dismissed.

Trainer Paul Nicholls won this race last year with Greaneteen and it was a slight shock as he was priced at 12/1 that day.

He looked as good as ever when winning last month's Haldon Gold Cup by 7 lengths and has a brilliant course and distance record with form figures of 2111.

Won well last time out beating stablemate Dolos so he is likely to be in the mix with Shishkin and could well win this race again for a second time.

Yard have been firing in the winners in recent weeks. A major contender who could make it 2-2 for this season.

Went into the Cheltenham Festival with an excellent Clarence House win at Ascot where he beat future Champion Chaser Energumene making it a perfect seven from seven over the larger obstacles.

Unfortunately he disappointed massively when he got pulled up as a strong favourite that day where something was cleary amiss, but can bounce back here to affirm his position as the top two-mile chaser in the country.

He missed last year’s Tingle Creek, but brushed aside a rival who he faces again here in Greaneteen in the Desert Orchid Chase.

This will be his first start at the track and it will be fascinating to see how he takes to the challenges that it may provide.

Purely on ratings, his rivals have upwards of 5lb to find, suggesting Shishkin could return in style here after 262 days off the track. The worthy favourite.

A thoroughly likeable sort who took his winning sequence to five when landing the Arkle at the Cheltenham Festival, this was his second win at Grade 1 level.

He was then beaten by fellow rival Gentleman De Mee at Aintree the following month, but his win in last year's Henry VIII Novice Chase makes him an obvious player here.

National Hunt fans have been eagerly awaiting Edwardstone’s return and connections will surely have to roll the dice sooner rather than later to get his season going here at Sandown.

Into open company on his seasonal debut is a big ask, but the 8 year old is proven at the track so cannot be totally ruled out.

He progressed well in open company last season, taking the Game Spirit at Newbury, and put up a career best performance when second in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham.

After that big run, he was probably expected to progress nicely next time out, but the horse failed to settle when returned to a longer trip at Aintree subsequently, but can potentially play a part in this at a big price.

Others have race fitness on their side, but he may be raring to go after a fairly long layoff and trainer seems to have hit form in just the right time.

A likely front-runner who defeated Arkle winner Edwardstone at Aintree in April, marking him as one of the top novices in the division.

The Willie Mullins trained 6 year old was nowhere near his best on his return at Naas last month where he actually unseated his rider when well held in third.

Type who can bounce back for top connections, but will have to be at his best to challenge the likes of Edwardstone again and the top two in the market, Greaneteen and Shishkin.

One at a bigger price who may be able to be in the mix as he is capable of putting in another huge run this time round. A player who can put it up to the more fancied horses in this year’s contest.
