Glorious Stakes Guide

1. Aquarium

Trainer - Mark Johnston

Jockey - Franny Norton

The first of Mark Johnston's assault on the race is Aquarium who ran on Tuesday at the festival in the first race of the meeting and struggled to get involved when coming off the pace.

He has now been stepped up in trip and class and it makes for hard reading where to find a possible form line or angle where this horse has a chance of winning the race.

Easily opposed and looks out of his depth.

2. Baghdad

Trainer - Mark Johnston

Jockey - Frankie Dettori

The second runner from the yard obviously looks the first string colt with the jockey booking of Frankie Dettori and the past form from winning back to back handicaps this season makes him interesting.

He needs to bounce back from his poor run in the Group 2 Prince Of Wales's Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket and will need to reverse the form line against a lot of these runners but holds big potential.

3. Desert Encounter

Trainer - David Simcock

Jockey - Jamie Spencer

This seven year old has been in poor form this season but last time out put in a much better run that gives him some optimism heading into this one.

His form at the back end of last season makes for interesting reading winning a Grade 1 contest over in Canada and finishing a solid third in a Group2 at Meydan.

If getting back to that sort of form he has a strong chance but from the way he has ran in Britain this season he will need to come on a lot.

4. Mirage Dancer

Trainer - Sir Michael Stoute

Jockey - Ryan Moore

This consistent five year old looks the one to beat in this one not being out the top three on all of his runs this season and has course and distance form which this week has shown means a great deal.

He won this race last year at the festival and started this seasons campaign off at the track in a Listed event where he took his only win of the season.

Huge player.

5. Prince Of Arran

Trainer - Charlie Fellowes

Jockey - James Doyle

The final runner of the race is Prince Of Arran and this gelding looks to be using this race as a prep run for bigger races come the end of the season.

He does enter calculations off his peak form, one of them being his staying on third in the Melbourne Cup at the back end of last year but that was over further and he has not really produced the goods at this trip yet.
