Racing League 2022

The second resumption of the Racing League gets underway at Doncaster on Thursday and lasts for six weeks and we have put together everything you need to know about this year's competition.

This season the seven teams will compete across 42 races at six meetings held every Thursday evening at different tracks around the UK.

The league have made it so each field is restricted to a maximum of 14 runners where each team will be represented by two runners.

Last year the league was made up of 12 teams that were sponsored by numerous different corporations but this term the league has been changed to seven regional line-ups: Scotland, the North, Ireland, Yorkshire, Wales and the West, the East, London and the South.

The league runs as a points-based tournament with 100 points available per race. First place will land 25 points, while points are spread all the way down to tenth position, with a single point being available to the 10th placed horse.

Six of the seven races every week are handicap events, featuring horses that are aged three and above and rated between 0-90.The other race is open to two-year-old horses rated between 0-85.

The prize money on offer across the league is as follows: For the three-year-old races, there is a £50,000 pot for every race, while for the two-year-old races the figure is set at £25,000.

The overall prize-money for the league has been boosted by £200,000 to reach £2 million for 2022.
