The first selection on the second and final day of the Arc meeting is the Group One Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere over 7f and Shartash for Johnny Murtagh could be interesting.

Seen five times to date this colt has been highly consistent for owners Aga Khan, finishing third on debut behind the superstar Little Big Bear and then off the back of that got off the mark at Naas over 6f.

Kept at 6f he made it back to back wins seeing off the smart dual Group One winner Blackbeard in the Group Two Railway Stakes at the Curragh.

Seen twice more since, Shartash was a valiant third behind Little Big Bear in the Group One Phoenix Stakes and then last time out moved up to 7f on soft at the Curragh in the Group One Vincent O'Brien National Stakes he was a close third behind Al Riffa.

He holds some of the strongest form in the race and having that bit more freshness than the favourite The Antarctic, he's a big player.

Next up is the Group One Prix Marcel Boussac for the two year old Fillies' and a big eye-catcher last time out was the Aidan O'Brien trained Never Ending Story and with a clear run she can go close.

Third on debut at the Curragh in May behind two smart types in Zarinsk and Olivia Maralda, she then stepped up to 7f and got off the mark for her career in a Fillies' Maiden.

Stepped up into Group Three company she made it back to back wins at 7f and was then once again stepped up in Class in France where she was a close third in a Group Two behind Wed who she opposes once more.

Last time out she gave one of the best runs of her career although finishing fourth, she travelled beautifully into the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes but hit traffic and could only run on into fourth behind the freak that is Tahiyra and Meditate.

If getting a clear passage she won't mind the soft ground and is worth giving another chance.

The Group One Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is the pinnacle of the flat season every year and with 20 runners heading to post for this years renewal we have two big each way selections.

The first is the Fabrice Chappet trained Onesto and this three year old son of Frankel has took his form to a new level this season since being stepped up in trip and having very close form with the 4/1 favourite Luxembourg, being over double the price makes him interesting.

Needing his first run of the season over the wrong trip of a mile, he went to Saint-Cloud and landed the Group Two Prix Greffulhe in good style.

A superb fifth in the Group One Prix du Jockey Club behind the likes of Vadeni, Modern Games and Al Hakeem, he then went up in trip to 12f at ParisLongchamp in the Grade Prix de Paris and in a superb finish he stayed on well to win the race by a neck.

Back down to 10f last time out he was a 1/2 length second the Luxembourg in the Group One Irish Champion Stakes and now getting back to a course and distance he gave a career best over, at 10/1 he looks a solid shout to hit the frame.

Highly progressive this season and will handle both good and soft ground.

Stall 11 no issue.

At a slightly bigger price is the Jean-Claude Rouget trained Al Hakeem who has been a very consistent horse this season, picking up from where he left off as a juvenile, he started this term over a mile at Chantilly winning a Conditions Stakes and then up to 10f at the same track took the Listed Prix de Suresnes.

Improving with every run he stayed at 10f and finished a valiant fourth of 15 in the Prix du Jockey Club ahead of Onesto, flying home late to suggest that the step up to 12f would suit.

Seen once more since still at 10f at Deauville in the Group Two Prix Guillaume d'Ornano, he was on top close home and went on to win well enough.

Saved since August for the Arc he looks a huge price and stall 4 is decent for his chances.

Above The Curve

Another classy event on Sunday is the Group One Prix de l'Opera over 1m2f and this race looks set up for Above The Curve to go close.

Having been targeted for this race all season, the Joseph O'Brien trained filly has been superb this season, progressing nicely with each run.

Making her seasonal debut at Leopardstown in a Fillies Maiden over 1m2f she bolted up ahead of a nice type in Thoughts Of June.

She then went to Chester in the Cheshire Oaks and in a race she should have won she as narrowly beat by Thoughts Of June who reversed the form.

Getting back to her best next time out she headed to ParisLongchamp over course and distance and managed to land the Group One Prix Saint-Alary.

Last seen improving again when giving the best run of her career making it back to back Group wins in the Moyglare Blandford Stakes, it will have set her up perfectly for this race.

Being highly progressive, a course and distance winner and looks set to handle soft ground from stall 5, she is a big player.

The Group One Prix de l'Abbaye is the big sprinting event on Sunday afternoon and having been won by horses at bigger prices we are playing the 16/1 chance Flotus.

Flotus has been a star for Simon & Ed Crisford over the last few years, winning a Listed Two Year Old Trophy at the back end of last season and then backing that up in the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes when narrowly denied by Tenebrism.

Back as a three year old this season the filly needed her seasonal return at Newmarket, but got back on track at Haydock when second to the smart Sense Of Duty in a good Listed event.

Sent to Royal Ascot next time out she was a superb third of 20 in the Group One Commonwealth Cup and then backed that up by winning at York in the Group Three Summer Stakes.

Dropped to 5f in the Nunthorpe she blew up and ran no race but last time out got back to form when third to Highfield Princess at the Curragh on soft ground in the Group One Flying Five Stakes.

That sets some decent form and at a double figure price should hit the frame again fro stall 9.

The final Race of the afternoon at ParisLongchamp we are covering is the Group One Prix de la Foret and we are giving a final chance to Tenebrism back at 7f.

A superstar juvenile last term winning both of her events in fine style, with her final victory coming in the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket after a break.

Back this season she did not take to the mile in the Group One 1000 Guineas and again in the Group One Coronation Stakes over a mile could only finish a well beaten fourth behind Inspiral.

Dropped to her preferred 7f in the Group One Prix Jean Prat at Deauville she got back to winning ways in taking style loving the distance.

Her last two runs have seen her strangely back at a mile in the Group One Prix Rothschild and Matron Stakes and although running well has had to settle for placed finishes.

The penny has seemed to drop for trainer and connections and now back at 7f on soft ground she looks an attractive bet if getting out from stall 1.
