Coronation Stakes Guide - 20/06/20

Quadrilateral

Trainer: Roger Charlton

Jockey: Jason Watson

She was sent off favourite for the 1000 Guineas but finished third and seemed to pull too hard. It’s a bit of a surprise she has turned up here with an expectation she would be saved for the Oaks but looks to have a good chance of winning here if settling better.

She was impressive when winning at Newbury last year and pulled it out of the bag when winning the Fillies Mile. She won’t mind a bit of cut in the ground and is the most likely winner.

Alpine Star

Trainer: Jessica Harrington

Jockey: Frankie Dettori

She missed both the English and Irish Guineas so comes here fresh, having last been seen when winning the Debutante at the Curragh in August.

The form of that race looks okay, with recent 1000 Guineas winner Love in behind and Frankie Dettori rides. She will no doubt go close, but fitness may be a question.

Run Wild

Trainer: John Gosden

Jockey: Oisin Murphy

She was impressive enough when making all to win the Pretty Polly at Newmarket, which is an Oaks trial, but she drops back to a mile here which shouldn’t be a problem, after showing plenty of pace.

That’s the height of her form however she was only a length or so behind recent Irish 1000 Guineas winner, Peaceful, at Newmarket in November and that was over a mile so that form would make her entitled to go close here.

Cloak of Spirits

Trainer: Richard Hannon

Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

She attempted to make all in the 1000 Guineas and ran credibly, finishing second ahead of Quadrilateral. On that form, she is entitled to go close here but did have the running rail at Newmarket and will have to step up again and may not have an easy enough lead this time.

So Wonderful

Trainer: Aidan O’Brien

Jockey: Ryan Moore

She was third in the Irish 1000 Guineas last week and will need to step on that to feature here but she may have just needed that run and is entitled to take her place here.

She was third in the Group one Moyglare, beaten about a length from 1000 Guineas winner Love and that form could see her going close here.

Love Locket

Trainer: Aidan O’Brien

Jockey: William Buick

The rank outsider at a big price, she is the stables second string and may be a pacemaker. Her form last season is average, finishing second in a handicap so this should be too difficult.
