Cieren Fallon takes second jockey role for Qatar Racing

One of the best up and coming riders in the sport Cieren Fallon, has landed himself a superb role within the sport being has been appointed as second jockey to Qatar Racing.

The son of the six time Champion Jockey Kieren Fallon, the youngster will play back up to Oisin Murphy with the current champ having the number one spot, but under the new racing rules that jockeys can only ride at one meeting, it has forced the ownership group to make this move.

Fallon will initially ride for the owners on a two year deal basis and has thoroughly deserved this appointment having landed his first ever Group One winner earlier this season in the July Cup at Newmarket on Oxted for Roger Teal.

(Credit ATR) Fallon said: “I feel hugely honoured to be joining the Qatar Racing team and am very thankful for those who have supported me to date. I am looking forward to what will hopefully be a very successful partnership."

Qatar Racing's racing manager David Redvers added: "The one-meeting restriction, brought in by the British Horseracing Authority, means we need to expand our team; Sheikh Fahad and I are thrilled that Cieren is joining as second jockey – he will be a huge asset.

“Sheikh Fahad has been watching Cieren from the outset of his career and has been very impressed by his riding under the tutelage of William Haggas.

“He has an incredibly calm demeanour for his age, an intuitive riding style and is very level-headed.”
