York Wednesday Preview - 15/05/19

13:50 - Fujaira Prince 4/1

The first selection of the day from York is the Roger Varian trained Fujairia Prince in the Ebor Jorvik Handicap over 1 mile 3 1/2 furlongs.

This smart five year old has been in some smart form at the back end of last season and on his seasonal debut where the gelding landed a hat-trick in a Class 3 at Doncaster.

He has been very progressive over the last few years and going in one of his toughest events to date we believe that him having already a run this season will see him come on for that and be better.

14:25 - Staxton

The next race of the day is the Infinity Tyres Handicap over six furlongs and in this Class 2 contest we have gone for the Tim Easterby trained Staxton.

This four year old looks to have a great chance in this contest if stepping up from his seasonal debut after finishing a strong third in a Class 2 at Ripon.

That was on good ground in 15 runner field with conditions very similar in this contest and some good performances at this track in the past he can go close.

15:00 - Yafta

The feature race of the day is the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes over six furlongs and we have sided with the Richard Hannon trained Yafta.

This four year old colt was very progressive last year winning some nice events and placing in Group contests to make you think he still holds potential for next year.

He backed that up on his seasonal debut when finishing a good second over course and distance at Newmarket on good to firm in the Group 3 Abernant Stakes and if improving again should be in the mix.

15:35 - Sparkle Roll

The Group 3 Musidora stakes sees the Fillies take centre stage and this contest looks to be one of the most competitive on the card but we have gone with Sparkle Roll.

This John Gosden trained three year old could be a superstar based off what she did last season and then backing that up on her debut this term.

At Sandown last month she beat 11 runners comfortably in a Fillies Novice contest and the potential she showed from that run was astounding, could be another bright filly from this superb yard.

16:05 - The Great Heir

The penultimate tip of the first day of the Dante meeting at York is another competitive Class 3 on the card and we have selected the Kevin Ryan trained The Great Heir.

This three year old colt finished off last season in great style winning a 22 runner Class 2 on good ground at Doncaster and if replicating that on his first run back he is the one to beat.

That was over 6.5 furlongs and stepping up to seven could bring even more out of him, it is a strong field but dropping in Class from his last run gives him obvious claims.

16:35 - NO BET

NO BET ADVERTISED

17:05 - Lord Of The Rock

The final selection of the day comes in the Class 4 Handicap over 1 mile 3 1/2 furlongs an we have gone for the Lawrence Mullaney trained Lord Of The Rock.

This seven year old gelding is a very experienced runner who is a previous winner at the track but has been in between the flat and the jumps for the last few seasons.

On his return to this distance on the flat last time out at Haydock he was a good winner and only up three pounds for that on Wednesday makes him a serious player.
