Tipperary Sunday Preview - 23/06/19

14:05 - Prima Vega

The first selection of the day comes in the Auction Maiden over five furlongs and we have sided with the D J Bunyan trained Prima Vega.

This two year old filly is a little more experienced than the rest of the field having two runs so far in her career and she has progressively got better on both runs.

Last time out she finished a good fifth in what looks to be a strong Naas maiden and if coming on again for that run in this weaker contest she could be a serious contender.

14:35 - Comhghairdeas

The second pick of the day runs in the Handicap over five furlongs and with a big field of runners going to post it looks a tricky affair but we have chosen the Andrew Slattery trained Comhghairdeas.

This five year old gelding has shot down the weights over the recent months and is now 13lb lower than the last time he won over course and distance.

He does not mind soft ground so should have conditions to suit but if getting back to his best on a dangerous mark he could be one to watch.

15:10 - Bailly

The third five furlong contest in a row at the Irish track and in this Handicap we have sided with the Ger Lyons trained Bailly to run a strong race.

This three year old filly was very progressive as a juvenile notching two wins onto her cv and a year older has been in some decent form with some good place runs.

Last time out she finished a good second at Cork when the ground had a little bit of cut in it and with similar conditions on Sunday she is bound to run her race.

15:40 - Harbour Dance

Coming towards the mid-way part of the card and in the seven furlong maiden contest The W P Browne trained Harbour Dance looks to have a really strong chance.

This progressive three year old has only had two starts in his career finishing a good fifth on debut last year in a 19 runner maiden at Naas.

The Gelding, on his seasonal debut this year, went on to finish a better second at this track in soft conditions meaning he has the conditions to suit and should run well.

16:15 - Basic Law

Next up is another Handicap over 1 mile 1 furlong and we have gone for the top weighted Basic Law trained by Ger Lyons.

This three year old gelding will take some beating after showing the best form on offer in the field and not finishing outside of the top two places on all four of his starts.

He is being upped in trip on Sunday which is sure to improve him again but if performing like he did when landing a hat-trick last time out he will be tough to beat only being up 1lb in weight.

16:50 - No Bet

NO BET

17:20 - Steelyeyed

The final selection on the Sunday card sees the Handicap over 1 mile 4 furlongs and we are going to finish off with the Patrick Martin trained Steelyeyed.

This five year old mare has a lot going for her in this contest with a nice draw, seven pound claimer on board and also ground conditions that will suit her.

She finished a good fourth last time out over course and distance and if stepping up slightly will be one to keep an eye on.
