Sandown Saturday Preview - 21/08/21

The first race of the afternoon at Sandown is the Class 4 Handicap over five furlongs and at a nice each way price Saaheq for Amanda Perrett can go well.

The course and distance winner won here back in June off 80 and after that slightly fell off the boil when going up in the handicap.

Saaheq is now back down to a mark of 78 which sees him 2lb below his last winning mark and with hime seeming to act on this track, he should go close.

Needs to bounce back to form, but has plenty in his favour to do so.

Next up is the seven furlong Nursery Handicap and the Charlie Appleby trained King's Guard could be a huge improver now in handicap company.

The two year old was first seen this term at Nottingham when finishing second behind a nice type for Mark Johnston and he then backed that up at Kempton in June when another nice second behind Noisy Night.

Looking to break his maiden he stepped up to seven furlongs and could only finish fourth behind Noisy Night once more.

The two year old makes his handicap debut off a mark of 77 and in this sphere is where he could shine.

One of the feature events of the day is the Group Three Solario Stakes over seven furlongs and we can't look past the favourite Reach For The Moon.

The son of Sea The Stars made a superb debut at Yarmouth in May when a good second behind the highly talented New Science.

He the went to Royal Ascot and took Point Lonsdale all the way to the line in the Listed Chesham Stakes just being done on the nod.

The colt finally got off the mark last time out in a good Novice Stakes at Newbury, with the second winning a good race at York this week to boost the form.

It would be surprising to see him get beat with the amount of raw potential this horse has for the Queen.

The Group three Atalanta Stakes is a smart race that sees some very talented fillies head to post and we are siding with the John Gosden trained Indigo Girl.

The three year old has been seen three times during her career, all as a juvenile and having now been off the track since October she returns in what looks a very winnable race.

Indigo Girl made her debut at Yarmouth on soft ground beating a fair field by three lengths last season and then improved from that at Doncaster next time out when taking the Group Two May Hill Stakes.

She then stepped up to Group One company for the first time in her life in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket and she was a narrow second to the smart Pretty Gorgeous.

After some time off the track she returned at Ascot this season in the Group Three Valiant Stakes and seemed to need the run massively.

She should be much fitter for this event and if anything like her two year old form she just wins this.

The penultimate selection of the afternoon from us comes in the 1m2f Class 2 Handicap and King Of Clubs for Hughie Morrison looks an extremely consistent type.

Having had one run as a juvenile in December and then again running in the early part of the year, this summer he has really come into his own.

Making his seasonal debut in April at Nottingham he finished a short head second to Sir Rumi, but off the back of that over the same course

The final selection of the afternoon from us comes in the seven furlong Class 3 Handicap and Silent Escape for Saeed bin Suroor could be tough to beat.

The filly has been seen three times to date, first as a three year old in November when winning over at Wolverhampton in taking style.

The now four year old made it back to back wins on her seasonal debut in June over 7f at Newcastle and then last time out on her turf debut was a neck second behind a nice type.

She has gone up 5lb for that event and races here off a mark of 91 but showing how progressive she has been already, she should take it in her stride.
