Kaboo was subject to a big gamble when sent off 15/2 from a monster price on his debut in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot last month, which not only gives a strong indication as to how highly connections regard him, but also there is good reason to believe his work at home had been impressive prior to reaching the track.

His run on that occasion was a promising one, and whilst he is not certain to relish these slower conditions, he is sure to improve a fair deal for that initial experience and should at least be there at the business end of the race.

After a fine juvenile campaign, resulting in an impressive Group 3 success in the Zetland Stakes on his final outing, Ralph Beckett’s gelding very much failed to live up to expectations last season, though he was highly tried on a number of occasions and connections may well have been a little too ambitious with this son of Lope De Vega.

He makes his return to racing with risks attached but this contest represents a sizeable drop in Grade and with the added cut in the ground sure to bring out the best in him, he is taken to add to his yards good run of form of late.

Amo Racing have unleashed some smart types already this season and Oh Great, a son of the high-class Ribchester, could be another at their disposal.

Albeit only fourth on his racecourse bow at Doncaster last month, Roger Varian’s colt caught the eye finishing well from the rear to grab fourth over this trip, despite looking in need of the experience.

He will need to improve plenty for this, but that was a promising first effort and there is plenty of potential in his pedigree to provide optimism ahead of his second racecourse outing, against a number of rivals who arrive with similar profiles.

Euchen Glen proved the candle still burns bright when winning the Brigadier Gerard over C&D back in May in ready fashion, and despite finishing only fifth in the Wolferton at Royal Ascot last time he had his excuses with conditions quick enough for him that day and the burden of his Group 3 penalty he had to shoulder.

On ratings he is far superior to his rivals in this Listed event, with his closest rival Fox Tal (rated 8lbs inferior) having finished behind Jim Goldie’s gelding on a number of occasions and not always certain to give his running, and his main market rival John Leeper arriving off the back of a very tame effort in the Derby last month with serious questions to answer.

Holds every chance.

Classic Lord is bred to be and shapes like an out-and-out stayer therefore it is impressive he ran so well over 12f at a track like Chester last time out.

An increase in distance around a more testing course like Sandown should be right up his street and he is still very unexposed.
