Saint-Cloud Tuesday Preview

Saint Cloud offer a decent card of Racing in France on Tuesday and our first selection of the day comes in the second race, the Prix du Buc.

Smart Whip although now nine years old looks one of the more likely contenders to land this contest having the experience in these type of contests.

The gelding is overdue a win in this sphere having place nicely in his last two races on the flat.

We have a small break until our next selection but in the Prix Montmartin over a mile we like the look of Sunbeam with last seasons Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winning jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot on board.

The four year old colt enters this contest off the back of a lengthy break and if being fresh and on song should feature in the frame.

He is a very lightly raced animal only having four runs so far in his career and now being dropped back to his preferred mile he has to be respected.

Habloville takes the eye in the Prix Teddy over a mile and this bottom weighted four year old has Maxime Guyon on board who had a sparkling day on his return to Longchamp on Monday.

This filly was lightly raced last year which should allow her to still improve this term and on her last run in February finished a fine third at Chantilly that can be built on today.

Sosoft is our selection in this contest and he looks to be a horse on the up having put in two smart performances on his last few runs and still on a nice mark.

The four year old colt is ridden by Maxime Guyon who we are hoping will land a quick-fire double for us and if performing to the form of last year he will be in the frame.

Two starts ago he finished first at Longchamp over 8.5 furlongs and backed that up in October at Chantilly when a bold second and that sets the standard for us.

Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget fields Port Guillaume in this one and he looks to be the one to beat having been unbeaten on both his starts to date.

The three year old son of Le Havre raced in January on the all weather at Cagnes-Sur-Mar and bolted up over one mile two furlongs.

The colt tackles a similar distance again and should be fresh already having a run this year.

Our best bet of the day comes in the Prix Durban Conditions race for Fillies on the turf and Vienne for trainer Jean-Claude Rouget could be a very smart contender.

The three year old filly looks to be the horse to beat off the back of what she has done in her career so far, getting off the mark nicely in October on her fourth start.

She got cut in the ground for the first time at Compiegne on her last start and made it count over nine furlongs and the step up in trip should only bring more improvement out of her.

The penultimate event of the day from Saint-Cloud is the Prix de Puteaux over 1 mile 2 furlongs and Babar could dominate the proceedings.

The gelding has been running in much better events than this and if being right at it on his first run back since June he can't go unnoticed.

The final race of the day in France sees us select the three year old Terre De France who has a strong win rate for his age.

He landed a hat-trick at the back end of 2019 and although not being as strong at the start of this year, he did finish a decent second at Cagnes-Sur-Mar which looks good form.
