Royal Ascot Day Four Preview - 21/06/2019

14:30 - Daahyeh

The first race on day four of Royal Ascot sees the Group 3 Albany Stakes over six furlongs and we have gone for the Roger Varian-trained Daayeh.

This two year old filly looks to be a serious contender in this contest after landing a decent contest on her debut and has had that form franked on Wednesday.

She went on to beat Raffle Prize who scored at Royal Ascot in the Queen Mary this year, that win came on good ground and may not want anymore rain but still looks one to watch.

15:05 - Private Secretary

The first Group 2 of the day is the King Edward VII Stakes and in this hot contest we have sided with the John Gosden-trained Private Secretary.

This three year old colt looks to be a very progressive youngster getting better with each race this season and is unbeaten so far this campaign.

This son of Kingman last time out gave his strongest performance to date when scoring at Goodwood in a Listed event and he looks sure to come on for that run and give another bold showing on Friday.

15:40 - Ten Sovereigns

The first of two Group 1 contests on the Friday at Royal Ascot and in the six-furlong Commonwealth Cup we have gone with Ten Sovereigns.

This Aidan O'Brien-trained three-year-old is unbeaten when running over this trip and if he can back to finding his form as a two year old he should be too quick for this field.

This season on his only run he was stepped up to a mile in the 2000 Guineas and never stayed the distance but back at six furlongs makes him dangerous and certainly the one to beat.

16:20 - Hermosa

The Group 1 Coronation Stakes sees a stunning field of fillies go to post and we have sided with another Aidan O'Brien recruit in Hermosa.

This superstar has been the horse of the year so far, currently leading the standings for the Cartier Horse awards after landing the English and Irish 1000 Guineas on both her runs.

She has been highly progressive this year and on her second start at the Curragh managed to look even better than her first Group 1 win.

If she performs anything like she has this season it is tough to see who beats her.

17:00 - Hotsy Totsy & Invitational

The penultimate race of the day on Friday is the big fielded Sandringham Stakes Handicap for the Fillies over a mile and we have two selections in this one.

The first is the Ed Walker-trained Hotsy Totsy who looks a very accomplished three year old winning two of her three career races and finishing a good third in the other.

She goes well on soft and is going in search of a hat-trick in this event in which her trainer landed last year.

Our each-way shout is the Roger Varian trained Invitational who has been very progressive on the all weather this season which has also seen her form being franked which makes her dangerous if taking to the Ascot turf.

17:30 - Fujaira Prince & Collide

The final contest of day four is the Class 2 Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes and again with such a big field we have two selections for the race.

The first is the highly reliable Fujaira Prince for Roger Varian who has only raced five times in his career but has not finished outside the top two in any of them, winning three races.

Last time he was very unlucky in a 18 runner handicap at York being pipped in a photo-finish but if handling the conditions looks a smart option.

The final pick from us is the Hugo Palmer trained Collide who landed three wins from six last season and last time out finished a good fourth behind Fujaira Prince last time out which makes him one to consider as well.
