The first race covered at Parislongchamp on Sunday afternoon is the De L’avre Listed Stakes.

Contested over 1m 3f 204y, seven line up here, with Charlie Appleby’s Hafit earning our vote.

This son of Dubawi cost a whopping 2.1m gns with his illustiorious pedigree suggesting he will progress over these trips as a 3yo.

What he did as a juvenile was always going to be a stepping stone to the future, but his third in the Zetland is still useful form, and the betting at Newbury suggested he was in need of the run.

Next up for us in France is the Group 3 Prix Allez France Longines Stakes where again seven line up, this time over 1m 1f 207y.

1/2 poke Grand Glory will take the world of beating in this having mixed it with some of the top in the division in her career.

She got the better of Audarya in last year’s G1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet which is rock solid form however she isn’t a betting price and Rumi is still open to improvement as a 4-y-o.

This daughter of Frankel was an impressive winner here on debut and she was a Group 3 winner just two starts later at the course so she evidently enjoys the track.

She failed to fire in G1 company after that, but bounced back with a victory in a G2 in August, and now returns in a G3 having a good record fresh.

There is a form line with Rougir which suggests there may not be much between the pair and with this Frankel filly an improving 4yo in comparison to the favourite being a 6yo we are willing to take a chance at the odds.

The feature race on today’s card is the Group 1 Prix Ganay where Skalleti looks to make it seven from eight at Parislongchamp.

She holds obvious claims and we aren’t putting anyone off her at 13/8, however at a bigger price we like Mare Australis, who returns to defend his crown having landed the race last year.

Connections have given him the same prep run as last term with a pipe opener in the Prix D’harcourt which is crucial with Andre Fabre’s horses often needing the run.

He is level on ratings with the favourite and with just six career starts to date there may well be more under the bonnet.

The final race we are covering in France on Sunday is the Group 3 Prix De Barbevillle.

We are taking on the favourite again here with one who looks capable of going well at an each-way price.

Joi De Soir, a nicely bred 4yo filly (Fastnet Rock out of Galileo mare), looks the type to improve as a 4yo and her recent outing at Chantilly should have her primed for this.

She chased home one of today’s rivals that day having let him nick a healthy advantage therefore we are confident at least that form can be reversed and this step up in trip may unlock further improvement.

Her best effort last term was a big run in the Qatar Prix de Royallie and we wouldn’t be surprised if she bettered that today.
