The Group action at Parislongchamp this Sunday kicks off with the Group 3 Prix du Palais-Royal and the horse that has caught our eye is the Andre Fabre trained DUHAIL.

By Lope De Vega, he’s been one of the most consistent sorts on the French circuit in recent years finishing outside of the top three just three times from his 13 career runs to date, winning seven in the process.

After coming out on top in three of his seven outings last season, he’s started 2021 in a similar mood.

A winner over the extended 6f distance at Chantilly in March, he made an impressive debut over a mile when beaten by a neck in Group 3 company. He then franked that form with victory in the Group 2 Prix Du Muguet next time out when finishing ahead of his well fancied stable mate Victor Ludorum, The Revenant and his previous nemesis Wally.

This race looks far more weaker than that outing and with a few of his rivals from that field stepping up in to Group 1 company on the same card, he’s going to take all of the beating in this field with him seemingly a Group 1 type running in a Group 3.

In what looks to be a hotly contested renewal of the Prix d’Ispahan and we’ve taking a real liking to the well bred VICTOR LUDORUM.

Unbeaten in three starts as a two year old in 2019 which saw him run a cracker to win the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère at this course, he failed to live up to expectations as a three year old with just one victory coming from his five outings.

That victory was however in the French 2000 Guineas where he got the better of The Summit however after that, he stepped up to 1m 2f finishing third on both occasions before a nine lengths fifth of sixth in the Prix Du Moulin.

He returned to action at the start of this month in Group 3 company finishing behind stable mate and our other pick for the card Duhail. He’s seemingly a horse that needs the run as shown last season and there was plenty to suggest from that run that now is the perfect time to return him to the 1m 2f distance in a more than winnable Group 1 contest on ground that will undoubtedly suit.
