Bergerac

J: Neil Callan
T: Kevin Ryan
N/A
Age: 4
Weight: 8-10
OR: 89
Days: 16

Popmaster is clearly highly regarded given he was entered for a Group 3 later in the week, however preference is for Bergerac for the Kevin Ryan team who have started the season in strong form.

Bergerac gets an 8lb swing with Popmaster for a 1.25 length runner-up finish at Doncaster 5 starts back over todays trip, and this 4yo remains open to plenty further improvement.

He currently holds a fitness edge in this field having returned with a pair of 3rd placed efforts at Southwell and Doncaster in March, twice outrunning his rating by around 5lbs with solid performances on the RPR’s.

He pinged the gates last time out and travelled well from the front however maybe just lost concentration at times and the cheekpieces are now applied to sharpen him up.

This son of Kodi Bear appears well handicapped if taking another step forward off a mark of 89, is nicely drawn in stall 8 and is given the solid booking of Neil Callan in the saddle.

Power Of Beauty

J: James Doyle
T: Hugo Palmer
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-3
OR: 104
Days: 220

New Science, on breeding, looks like he will want much further than todays trip whilst there are doubts over Ribhi’s ability to see out a stamina sapping Newmarket 7f.

Preference is for Power Of Beauty, a two-time winning 2yo at Wolverhampton and Yarmouth before, following some market backing, drawing 6 lengths clear with a subsequent Grade 1 winning runner, in Albahr, over a mile at Salisbury in Listed company.

He was playing up in the stalls before running below par last time out at Haydock however has since been gelded and holds potential to return a strong, more mature horse, 220 days on.

James Doyle is a strong booking in the plate and a drop back to his last winning distance upon his return appears sure to suit.

Master Of The Seas

J: William Buick

Age: 4
Weight: 9-0
OR: 117
Days: 178

The four year old has been seen eight times during his career, making his debut in June 2020 at Newmarket over seven furlongs and getting off the mark in good style.

He then went into the Group Two Superlative Stakes over the same course and distance and beat a smart field by three lengths.

Trying to keep his unbeaten juvenile record he went to the Curragh for the Group One Vincent O'Brien National Stakes and finished a stellar fourth behind the best of the Irish, that have all since gone on to have decent careers.

The colt was then seen at Meydan in February having his first run of last season in a Listed event over a mile and he finished a good second behind stablemate Naval Crown.

He got back to winning ways at this meeting last year in the G3 Craven Stakes and off the back of that was a short head second in the G1 2000 Guineas.

Only seen twice more since then he was third of seven after a small setback in the G2 Joel Stakes and then last time out he ran no race at Ascot on the QEII.

Now gelded he is by far the best horse in this race on ratings, with his next closes 5lb behind him and he has every chance of outclassing these.

Rishes Baar

J: Daniel Tudhope
T: David O'Meara
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-0
OR: 97
Days: 186

Rishes Baar was keeping on menacingly but not for getting hampered as she made her dash for home between a tight gap when last seen over todays C&D on her final run of last season.

The David O’Meara / Danny Tudhope combination boasts some strong early season form and their runner holds plenty potential for returning a better rounded prospect as a 3yo.

She won first time up last season ahead of the now 103 rated Vertiginous and remains one of the least exposed runners in this field after just three runs.

Age: 3

Crenelle for John Gosden is a beautifully bred daughter of Kingman that ran green throughout the race on debut at Southwell over a mile and ran into trouble when asked to go win the race.

She ran on really well to finish third by a short head but was then promoted to second in the stewards room.

Staying at the mile trip but now over turf which she should suit more, she looks very interesting for top connections.

Tom Marquand

Educator

J: Tom Marquand
T: William Haggas
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-1
OR: 85
Days: 199

William Haggas won this race last year, 85 rated runners have won this race the past 2 renewals, and given favourites have won this race for the past four renewals, trends are looking stacked in favour of this years favourite Educator.

He was sent off a well backed favourite to land a class 2 Maiden at Goodwood in September, missing out by a mere neck, and subsequently landed a novice over a mile next time out at Haydock in likeable fashion, staying on strongly at the finish.

He beat Dante and Derby entrant Savvy Victory by almost 4 lengths that day who recently returned hitting an RPR of 90 when franking that form and winning last week.

An opening mark of 85 looks to seriously underestimate him, Haggas has a strong record with handicap debutants and the new 1m2f trip should be bringing out plenty further improvements.

N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 89
Days: 174

Two entries for AMO Racing here with the ownerships first string jockey, Rossa Ryan, aboard George Boughey’s Mr Alan.

Kept on strongly to win well at Ayr 2nd time up and was subsequently sent off a 5/1 shot to land listed honours in France upon testing conditions on final run of last season, finishing 4th.

He’ll be sure to appreciate todays first time step up to 1m2f, should be returning a better animal as a 3yo, and any improvements from last times RPR of 88 should have him looking well in off an opening handicap mark of 89.
