Newmarket Saturday Preview - 18/05/19

14:05 - Al Hilalee 3/1

The first selection of the day from Newmarket comes in the Listed Fairway Stakes over 1 mile 2 furlongs and we have gone for the Godolphin owned Al Hilalee.

This bright three year old was unbeaten as a juvenile winning nicely at Newmarket on debut and then landing a Listed contest in France.

On his seasonal debut this season he was put straight into the 2,000 Guineas where he never ran his race but on Saturday he is being upped in trip in a smaller field and back down to a Class he can dominate in.

14:40 - Jash 10/11

The second race of the day is another Listed contest this time over seven furlongs and in the King Charles II Stakes we have gone for the favourite Jash.

This progressive three year old for trainer Simon Crisford has had three races to date and has set a fine record for himself so far with two wins and a good second.

The colt was really progressive over six furlongs last season finishing second to Ten Sovereigns in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes and stepping up a furlong in similar conditions could make him tough to beat.

15:15 - Yousini 10/1

Another nice race on the Newmarket card is the Class 2 Handicap over six furlongs and in this hot contest we have sided with the Kevin Ryan trained Yousini.

This three year old gelding made a lovely seasonal debut with a good second over course and distance when struggling for room but finishing off nicely.

If getting a clearer run he has nice each way claims with conditions to suit and from the evidence of the Guineas a good draw in stall 14.

17:00 - Ambling

The penultimate race of the card sees the Class 3 Fillies Novice Stakes over 1 mile 4 furlongs and in this sharp contest we have gone with the John Gosden trained Ambling.

This three year old filly holds a certain amount of potential and if finding that on her seasonal return should be good enough to get involved at Class 3 level.

Hopefully she has wintered well and matured for the new season. It being her first run back is a slight negative but it doesn't look that strong a race.

17:35 - Foxy Forever

The final race on the card on Saturday is the Sprint Handicap over five furlongs and in this Class 4 contest the Michael Wigham trained Foxy Forever is of some interest.

This nine year old is well experienced in these types of races and still holds plenty of ability and pace at this level finishing a smart second last time out on his return to turf.

Finished close in this race back in 2014 and although needing to run to a high standard he certainly enters each way calculations.
