These maiden races are a tricky puzzle but experience can often prove the difference and Roger Varian's Oasis Dream filly has just that.

She finished second to the stoutly-bred Jovial when well found in the market on debut and we are expecting her to have learnt plenty from that.

Kevin Ryan has won this race four of the previous six years and Brando, who is accountable for two of those victories, currently heads the market in search of an historic three-timer.

It is his other charge that catches our eye though. Emaraaty Ana won the Group2 Gimcrack Stakes over this trip and we feel he can start to fulfil some of his earlier promise over sprint trips.

He was a non-stayer over further and could prove hard to catch if adopting his usual prominent tactics.

It is a slight concern connections opt to drop Sangarius to a mile for his comeback but we feel this son of Kingman will be a Group1 performer this season, albeit at a different distance.

He starts out in a listed event and we are hoping he will have too much class for these. The Kingman crop have done well over 1m and Sir Michael Stoute often excels at this meeting.

The Coronation Cup looks a thriller on paper with Roger Varian's Defoe getting a tentative vote.

He looks the solid option having defeated Kew Gardens in this race last season and the change of track shouldn't pose any issues.

Market leader Ghaiyyath rates the main danger. This Dubawi horse is an in-consistent type but if he turns up will prove very hard to catch from the front.

Stradivarius, although will prove popular with punters, is likely to need further than this throughout the season and the O'Brien pair have failed to back up their Derby efforts.

The step up in distance unlocked plenty of improvement in this Sea The Stars gelding when he bolted up at Leicester and we feel he could keep improving.

Roger Varian knows how to ready one so the break shouldn't be a huge concern; though he does carry the joint top-weight.

Another maiden packed with nicely bred types.

William Buick looks an interesting booking on Kingman filly Coto Donana, who finished with promise from a hopeless position at Lingfield on debut.

She moves up to 7f and has that experience to use against her rivals.

Intisaab looks interesting towards the bottom of this handicap.

David O'Meara's gelding hasn't won for a long time but is subsequently 15lb below that mark and has recently undergone wind-surgery which could trigger improvement.

Admittedly not the force of old, but he has previously contested Group1 races at this track and James Doyle's presence suggests he could go close.
